Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in both West Virginia and Virginia. I graduated Liberty University in beautiful Lynchburg, Virginia and am happy to include or NOT include a faith based approach to your treatment. I specialize in working with adults and couples with a wide range of concerns ranging from healing from trauma, anxiety, depression, to individuals experiencing life transitions, parenting or those navigating co-parenting relationships and martial concerns. My goal is to assist you in reducing symptoms and improving your overall level of functioning and life satisfaction. It is important for you to know that I work on multiple telehealth platforms. To avoid getting double booked I only allow morning time slots for self booking/intake appointments. However, I have afternoon and evening appointments available for follow up appointments. These appointments I will book for you for the agreed upon day and time. If you are needing an afternoon or evening appointment for your intake, please message me before booking so that I can let you know what I have available.
In our first session we will do introductions and I will collect some important information from you regarding present concerns as well as some background information. I'll need this information to form a treatment plan specific to you and your needs. Honestly, this session will not be a good representation of what follow up session will flow and feel like do to me needing to collect information. Follow up sessions feel more organic and person focused as we get to know each other better.
I really enjoy helping people. I feel honored to be a small part of your healing journey. I love working together with clients to find the root cause of their challenges and creating a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress and improved functioning and life satisfaction. I take a very collaborative approach to therapy. I also believe my life experiences give me an edge to not only be able to approach clients clinically, but through my experiences of being a mother of 5, a wife, and a complex trauma survivor. I've been in the trenches of life and can relate to how important and powerful the healing journey is. This is not just my career, this is my passion.
I love working with adults in all areas of their lifespan from the college or young adult years to the later stages of life. Most individuals I work with have experienced traumatic experiences, many have experienced relationships with personality disordered parents and/or partners. I assist individuals in identifying cycles of abuse, feelings of shame, negative self talk and setting boundaries. It is not uncommon for me to have a client that comes for help with anxiety and depression and we discover life experiences that have lead to depressive and/or anxious thoughts and behaviors. I seek to assist clients in finding the root cause of these behaviors and then learn to manage and reduce them.

Thoroughly enjoyed my first session and look forward to my next one. Worked through some pretty tough stuff and actually got some answers I’d been looking for and it’s only day one. Cried a lot, laughed a lot, really felt like we connected and I felt understood. As someone who hasn’t benefitted from therapy in the past, I’m excited to see what I can accomplish with Mindy.

Mindy is compassionate and caring. Truly authentic and forthcoming relating her own personal experiences to yours is what lets you know she understands. I have to dwell on what I have heard today and pray to see is I can continue to get positive feelings from more meetings with Mindy. Thank you for listening.

I've been with Mindy for over a year now, and she's been a fantastic therapist. She's warm, kind and humorous, but also knows when to challenge and when to empower. She's not afraid to say things directly that may be hard to hear (once trust has been built), but can benefit her patients' growth. Her insights and suggestions have brought moments of breakthrough that have helped me grow in managing anxiety and self-regulation, and therefore improved my quality of life. Highly recommended her!!
