Kylee Neumaier
I’m a warm, uplifting, and down-to-earth therapist who believes therapy can be meaningful without always feeling heavy. I bring a bubbly, inviting energy into the room while creating a space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. My style is compassionate and reflective, with gentle challenges when needed. I especially enjoy helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions while building greater self-awareness, confidence, and connection.
First session
In our first few sessions, my priority is getting to know you and building a strong therapeutic relationship. I believe rapport and trust are important foundations for meaningful work, so there is no expectation to immediately dive into experiences you may not feel ready to discuss. We will explore what brought you to therapy, what you are currently experiencing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I will also ask questions to better understand your history, relationships, strengths, challenges, and current coping strategies. Together, we can begin identifying goals and determining which therapeutic approaches feel most supportive for you.
Strengths
I bring warmth, curiosity, openness, and a balance of validation and gentle challenge to my sessions. I value creating a space where clients can reflect without judgment while also feeling supported in looking at patterns that may be keeping them stuck. My approach is collaborative and flexible rather than one-size-fits-all. I draw from CBT, DBT, and EMDR to help clients develop greater awareness of their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and past experiences. I also value slowing down, listening openly, and helping clients become more connected to what they are experiencing in the present moment.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward but is curious about understanding themselves on a deeper level. You don’t have to come to therapy knowing exactly what you need or having the “right” words to describe what you’re experiencing. I enjoy working with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Whether you’re ready for change or simply ready to start exploring, we can work together at a pace that feels comfortable, meaningful, and authentic to you.
Treatment methods
EMDR
I integrate EMDR and DBT in a flexible, client-centered way based on each person’s needs and readiness. With EMDR, I help clients explore how past experiences may still be influencing their emotions, beliefs, relationships, and reactions in the present. I take a gradual approach, prioritizing rapport, safety, grounding, and emotional regulation before moving into deeper processing.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use DBT to provide practical, everyday tools for managing difficult emotions, tolerating distress, improving communication and boundaries, and responding more intentionally rather than reacting in the moment. I often incorporate mindfulness and present-moment awareness to help clients slow down, notice what is happening internally, and choose how they want to respond.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT in a collaborative and reflective way to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we explore patterns of thinking that may contribute to anxiety, depression, self-doubt, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck. Rather than simply telling clients to “think more positively,” I encourage curiosity about where certain beliefs come from, how they may have once been protective, and whether they are still serving them today. I gently challenge unhelpful thought patterns while helping clients develop more balanced perspectives and practical ways of responding differently. My goal with CBT is to help clients become more aware of their internal dialogue, understand themselves with greater compassion, and feel more confident in their ability to navigate difficult emotions and situations.
Supportive
I use supportive therapy to create a warm, accepting, and collaborative space where clients can feel heard, understood, and comfortable showing up as themselves. I believe that sometimes meaningful therapeutic work begins simply with having a safe place to slow down, reflect, and talk openly about what you are experiencing without judgment. Through active listening, validation, reflection, and gentle exploration, I help clients recognize their strengths, better understand their emotions, and feel supported as they navigate difficult experiences or periods of change. While I offer encouragement and compassion, I also gently challenge clients when appropriate to help deepen insight and promote growth. Supportive therapy is often woven throughout my work, particularly while building rapport, navigating stressful life experiences, or preparing for deeper therapeutic work.
