New to Grow
Hi, I'm Tory! I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 8 years of experience helping adults and couples navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and collaborative. I believe therapy should feel like a genuine conversation - not a clinical interview. I'm particularly drawn to people who have been through difficult experiences and are struggling to see their own strengths. I'll meet you with compassion and curiosity while also helping you recognize patterns, build insight, and make meaningful changes in your life. I draw from approached including CBT, EMDR, DBT-informed skills, and relational therapy, tailoring our work to what feels most helpful for you.
My goal is for you to leave our first session feeling heard, understood, and a little less alone. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you hope will change, and begin identifying what may help. I'll meet you with warmth and curiosity, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out.
I bring warmth, authenticity, curiosity, and a little humor into the therapy room. I want my clients to feel genuinely heard and understood, but I also believe therapy is most helpful when we're willing to look honestly at patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I'll hold space when you need it, but I'm also comfortable gently challenging you, offering a different perspective, and asking the questions that help us go a little deeper. I tend to be an active and engaged therapist rather than someone who simply sits back and listens. I'll celebrate your progress, help you recognize strengths you may overlook, and work alongside you to turn insight into meaningful change. Above all, I want therapy to feel like a place where you can show up as yourself, feel supported, and know that someone is genuinely invested in helping you move forward.
I help adults who feel stuck, lost, or unsure. You may face trauma, change, stress, doubt, or pain with those you love. We can explore old patterns, name your needs, build skills, find your voice, trust yourself, and help you feel seen, heard, strong, and more like you as you move ahead each day. I value humor, honesty, collaboration, and creating a space where you can truly be yourself.
I use CBT to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck, and develop practical ways to challenge unhelpful thoughts and respond differently. I tailor this approach to each client rather than using a one-size-fits-all format.
I use EMDR to help clients process painful or overwhelming experiences that continue to affect how they feel, think, or respond in the present. We work at a pace that feels safe and manageable, using guided techniques to help reduce the emotional intensity of difficult memories and develop healthier, and more adaptive beliefs. Preparation and emotional safety are an important part of the process.
I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. I create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences, emotions, relationships, and goals openly. Rather than telling you what you "should" do, I work collaboratively with you to build greater self-understanding, recognize your strengths, and make choices that feel authentic and meaningful to you.
I use supportive therapy to help clients feel less alone while navigating stressful, painful, or uncertain periods in their lives. Sessions may include processing emotions, identifying patterns, building coping skills, problem-solving current challenges, and recognizing existing strengths. I provide validation and encouragement while also offering thoughtful feedback and gentle challenge when helpful.
I approach therapy with an understanding of how past experiences can shape the way we feel, think, relate to others, and respond to stress in the present. I prioritize emotional safety, choice, collaboration, and trust, allowing clients to share and explore difficult experiences at their own pace. We focus not only on what happened, but also on building strengths, coping skills, and a greater sense of safety and control in the present.
