Hello, I am Sanayah Marriott, a licensed clinical social worker in CA and HI. I am fluent in English and Haitian Creole. I am also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor-II with 8 years of extensive experience in addiction treatment settings and 18 years of military experience. I am thrilled that you have chosen to embark on a journey towards personal growth and self-care. Are you ready to let go of your worries, discover your purpose, embrace emotional wellness, adapt to change, and lead a balanced life? While the journey may be challenging, I aim to support you as you gain awareness and understanding.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I eagerly anticipate our first meeting, which will allow us to build a meaningful connection and gain a deeper understanding of each other. The intake process consists of up to two sessions, allowing us to explore your therapy needs and gain valuable insight into your life journey. This process sets the stage for a strong therapeutic relationship, and I am excited to embark on this journey with you. My goal is to assist you in managing and reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma while also improving your communication skills and ability to set boundaries. Acknowledging that our upbringing, experiences, relationships, and current life stressors impact our well-being is important. I am committed to working hard to help each person as much as possible, even if that means finding resources or referrals for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I tailor my approach to suit each individual and their current circumstances. It's important for you to know that you have control over your therapy, life, and overall growth. I'm here to support, guide, and sometimes challenge your perspective. Dealing with addiction, anxiety, and depression can be very tough, and it requires someone willing to go the extra mile to help save lives. I believe in promoting self-exploration, self-acceptance, and self-actualization to help clients gain insight into their inner world, enhance self-awareness, and find fulfillment. I use evidence-based therapy approaches, such as humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavior, solution-focused brief, strength-based, and motivational interviewing, to customize therapy to meet your needs and enhance resilience and coping skills for positive change.

My treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy, which combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices. I help clients develop emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and mindfulness skills while recognizing and modifying harmful behavior patterns and increasing self-awareness to handle challenging situations. I emphasize validation, acceptance, and balancing acceptance and change to help clients achieve greater emotional stability and well-being.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT to identify persistent thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and negative emotions that contribute to anxiety and depression symptoms. Through CBT, individuals can develop skills and strategies to change their thinking patterns and reduce distress, ultimately empowering them to live a more balanced and calmer life.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I specialize in solution-focused, goal-oriented therapy that focuses on the present and future strengths rather than dwelling on past experiences. My main objective is to assist you in setting specific achievable goals to help you move forward, foster self-efficacy and empowerment, and find solutions. I use various techniques to measure and ensure progress, including miracle and scaling questions.

Compassion Focused

A compassionate approach can help reduce the symptoms of anxiety and depression. It is crucial in building a relationship to provide a feeling of being heard, safety, and deep understanding, as these are essential for growth. My priority is to offer empathy and understanding to help you overcome your challenges by delving into your innermost thoughts and emotions, leading to positive change.

Humanistic

A therapist and client bond is crucial for healing and personal development. It creates a safe environment for mutual support, helping individuals manage emotions and develop resilience. This bond also allows for forming meaningful connections, building trust, and enabling exploration of deep-rooted issues.
