My name is Mia Morton and I am happy to see that you have the courage to begin your journey . Seeking help can be difficult to do so I must give you kudos for doing so brave. I feel it is important for the client to guide the therapy sessions so that they are empowered to move forward on their own eventually. I provide services that assist my clients with making changes in their thinking patterns and develop new skills to improve their lives. I feel that my patience and understanding of life and life’s struggles assists me with assisting others. I am also a mother of 2 and a grandmother of 5. I also work with at risk youth through a not for profit organization to assist with trauma care. Being a black woman assists in the empathy and sympathy I have for people of color and the various forms of oppression we face daily

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will discuss what the client wants to attain through counseling and begin rapport building . Discussing present symptoms and gathering some background information that may assist the client along the way. I will also answer any questions the client may have about the therapeutic relationship and therapy process. An explanation of confidentiality and informing the client that I am a mandatory reporter.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel that my personality, ability to be non-judgmental, my understanding of pain, trauma and the need for change as well as my patience. I seem to have a knack for getting along well with others and am able to meet them where they are to address their needs. I do not make decisions for my clients but assist them with making decisions for themselves.
