Dr. Gwen Foleng, DNP
Welcome! I am Gwen Foleng
As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Practitioner, I provide comprehensive care that combines both medication management and psychotherapy to help individuals struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders.
Taking the first step toward improving your mental health can feel overwhelming, but you don't have to do it alone. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Practitioner, I provide comprehensive care that combines both medication management and psychotherapy to help individuals struggling with Anxiety, depression, ADHD and mood disorders. My approach is personalized, evidence-based, and focused on empowering you to improve emotional regulation, develop healthier thought patterns, and enhance daily functioning. Whether through medication, therapy or a combination of both, I’m here to guide you toward lasting well-being. When you’re ready, I’m here to listen and help you take the next step.
First session
In our first session, we’ll begin with a warm introduction and an open conversation about what brings you to care. I’ll ask about your experiences with mood, focus, and daily challenges to gain a comprehensive understanding of your needs. Together, we’ll explore both medications and therapeutic options, if appropriate, to develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your goals. My priority is to create a collaborative and supportive space where you feel heard, comfortable and empowered as we take the first steps toward your mental wellness.
Strengths
Having worked with individuals facing mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and depression for the past 9 years, I’ve developed a compassionate and practical approach to help you (a) understand the patterns affecting your mental health and (b) create personalized strategies that lead to real, lasting change. My experience allows me to meet you where you are while equipping you with the tools to regain balance and control in your life.
Ideal clients
I serve individuals who are ready to take an active role in their mental health journey and are open to a combination of medication and therapy. My ideal clients are those struggling with Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Mood Disorders, OCD, PTSD and Sleep Disorders, who are seeking clarity, stability, and practical strategies to improve their daily lives. They may feel overwhelmed by racing thoughts, emotional ups and downs, or difficulties with focus and motivation. My dream clients value a collaborative and supportive approach, where we work together to develop a treatment plan that fits their unique needs. Whether they are professionals, students, or parents balancing multiple responsibilities, they share a desire for understanding, structure, and lasting change. If you’re looking for a provider who listens, educates, and tailors treatment to your life, I’m here to help.
Treatment methods
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation is a vital part of my practice as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Practitioner, as it empowers patients to understand their mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. I integrate psychoeducation into every session, whether discussing medication management, therapy techniques, or lifestyle modifications. For patients with ADHD, I educate them on executive functioning challenges and strategies to improve focus and organization. With anxiety and depression, I help patients recognize symptoms, identify triggers, and develop practical coping mechanisms, including cognitive-behavioral techniques. By providing clear, evidence-based information, I ensure patients and their families feel informed, engaged, and active participants in their treatment journey.
