Let's be honest- we all have something that we could use additional help navigating. I'm passionate about providing support to teens and adults looking to gain awareness, understanding, and skills to manage life changes, interpersonal relationships, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, grief, and PTSD. Reaching out to a therapist is one of the more difficult steps a person can take towards healing. I'm dedicated to helping others increase their belief in their abilities to set and achieve goals.
During our first session, I will briefly share a bit about myself and my practice at the start of the hour. Then, after you introduce yourself, we will discuss what brings you to therapy and identify your goals. Towards the end of the hour, I will offer feedback and suggest ways I can help you reach your goals. If you are interested in continuing with me, we will discuss scheduling follow-up sessions.
While I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), I also utilize a holistic and integrated approach to provide the most appropriate individualized care for each of my clients. I combine a strengths-based, solution-focused, and systems approach keeping in mind the importance of community and environment.
I've been told that one of my biggest strengths is my ability to listen empathetically and synthesize what a person is trying to communicate to me...even if they don't have the "perfect" words to describe it themselves. My current clients express gratitude for my dedication and honesty while working to help empower them to create the life they want for themselves.
My clients describe wanting to see sustainable change in their lives and are open to challenging their beliefs and disrupting current behavioral patterns to achieve that change. Additionally, I have a special interest in working with populations who are marginalized including racial/ethnic, sexual, and gender minorities.
