LCSW, 7 years of experience
Nice to meet you, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Delaware. I am also a Certified Advance Alcohol and Drug Counselor (C-AADC), Certified Mental Health Screener (C-MHS), and Certified First Responder Counselor (C-FRC). My education includes my Doctor of Social Work (DSW) in 2024, Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2018, Post-Bachelor Certificate in Trauma-Informed Approaches in 2019, and my Bachelors of Arts (BA) with a Major in Psychology in 2016. I am a Marine Corps veteran, serving four years of active duty before starting my academic journey. I have experience working with individuals struggling with substance misuse/abuse, homelessness, severe mental illness, anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, and more. I tend to focus on the person-in-environment and what we can work towards as your goals. Our sessions are a partnership in which we often focus on how to achieve your desired outcome.
Our intake session will consist of the intake process. I want to know what brings you and the areas you feel are concerns or problematic. I will share what sessions with me are like, my views and values and see if this I am a match for you. Our first session, we dive deep into areas of concern. I focus on the whole health, as each person will have many unique factors that impact them. I focus on building a relationship of trust and honesty, where I get to you know you but subsequently work together build trust.
I feel one of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to build a connection with my clients. I encourage my clients to use language that they feel best describes a situation, including cursing. I feel that if that is how you need to explain something, then I encourage it. I believe these sessions are yours. I work on building a relationship and connecting with my clients so that they feel supported in their goals and have the streghts to move forward.
I enjoy working with a wide variety of individuals. My focus is usually on those struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Being a Certified first responder Counselor, I focus on providing mental health counseling to those in that community. This includes nurses, paramedics, law enforcement, firefighters, social workers, correction officers, dispatchers, and other members of the first responder community.
I often use a motivational interviewing approach when working with clients. It is often that the individual knows what they want or what is best but works to initiate themselves.
I often utilize mindfulness-based intervention in treatment as it is a great tool to ground and center oneself. Often, these tools can help us and bring us back to the present.
I often focus on one's strengths to build one's thoughts and behaviors.
I work diligently with those who struggle with traumatic events and focus on cultivating an environment that is safe and supportive in one's recovery.
