Nice to meet you, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Delaware. I am also a Certified Advance Alcohol and Drug Counselor (C-AADC), Certified Mental Health Screener (C-MHS), and Certified First Responder Counselor (C-FRC). My education includes my Doctor of Social Work (DSW) in 2024, Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2018, Post-Bachelor Certificate in Trauma-Informed Approaches in 2019, and my Bachelors of Arts (BA) with a Major in Psychology in 2016. I am a Marine Corps veteran, serving four years of active duty before starting my academic journey. I have experience working with individuals struggling with substance misuse/abuse, homelessness, severe mental illness, anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, and more. I tend to focus on the person-in-environment and what we can work towards as your goals. Our sessions are a partnership in which we often focus on how to achieve your desired outcome.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I often want to get to know you. I want to know your likes and dislikes. Your hobbies, any past treatment, coping skills you may know already. I want to see the family structure, religion, and beliefs. I want to know about any injuries or medical concerns. I also want to know of individual points of contact that you can reach out to if you feel you need a buddy. I want to focus on getting to know you. Vice versa, I open the floor to ask questions about me. I need to know you and for you to feel comfortable with someone you are sharing with. I focus on building a trusting partnership that is comfortable and willing to open up. I will always be honest and transparent and encourage questions if something does not make sense. As I am open to questions so that you get to know me a bit, there is private information I won't share, and I will tell you that there is some information I won't share due to ethical, legal, or safety concerns.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel one of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to build a connection with my clients. I encourage my clients to use language that they feel best describes a situation, including cursing. I feel that if that is how you need to explain something, then I encourage it. I believe these sessions are yours. I work on building a relationship and connecting with my clients so that they feel supported in their goals and have the streghts to move forward.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

I often use a motivational interviewing approach when working with clients. It is often that the individual knows what they want or what is best but works to initiate themselves.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I often utilize mindfulness-based intervention in treatment as it is a great tool to ground and center oneself. Often, these tools can help us and bring us back to the present.

Positive Psychology

I often focus on one's strengths to build one's thoughts and behaviors.

Trauma Informed Care

I work diligently with those who struggle with traumatic events and focus on cultivating an environment that is safe and supportive in one's recovery.
