Hello and welcome- It is not easy to finally decide that you might like some help from a professional. This is a difficult step, so good for you for taking it. Many of us have anxiety and/or depression or have difficulty navigating life transitions. We may have been struggling with anxiety and depression for a long time. We might have difficulties maneuvering loss and new transitions. We may have feelings of anger and fear. I am here to help you explore all of your thoughts and feelings. I am a licensed clinical social worker who has practiced for over 30 years working with clients with a variety of concerns. I have had extensive experience working with clients who are experiencing substance use, depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief, and have or are experiencing domestic violence. During my career, I have provided therapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups in diverse settings ranging from outpatient clinics, medical settings, nonprofit agencies, and the foster care system. I was an instructor at San Diego State University and University of Phoenix for many years and I have supervisory and administrator experience.
During our first session, I will ask you questions so I may get to know you better. I will want to know what brought you to therapy and what you would like to change or work on. There are no wrong answers. Therapy is for you. Before the end of the session, we will talk about the goals for therapy. This will help guide us in your therapeutic journey.
I begin therapy where you feel most comfortable and my treatment is tailored for each client. I use researched and effective therapeutic approaches. My therapy style draws from a foundation of insight-oriented therapy -looking at long standing behavior patterns and how they affect us now. I utilize cognitive behavior therapy tools, in addition to problem solving. solution-focus and mindfulness techniques. I use a combination of many approaches and techniques to help you achieve what you are looking for.
I feel I am a compassionate, open-minded , and non-judgmental person. I am good at helping clients move toward what they want to achieve. I have had many years of experience with working with many mental health issues. I feel I have a good sense of who a person is and their struggles.
