(she/her)
Are you struggling with excessive worry thoughts, low mood or unexpected rage? Are you trying to parent in a gentle and responsive manner, but your own emotions or past trauma are making it hard? Have you been trying to grow your family, but are feeling stuck due to pregnancy loss or fertility challenges? I see you, and you are not alone. My primary focus is on helping women find balance and peace after experiencing trauma, navigating through life transitions, unhealthy relationships, or loss and grief.
Finding the right therapist can feel daunting and confusing. I strive to create a non-judgemental space for you to find your voice, be heard and allow you to explore your thoughts, feelings and needs. I offer a safe space to talk through the demands of life and identify practical ways of balancing the care of others and yourself. In the first session we will take some time to get to know one another better and discuss your support needs. I will ask questions about your current situation, history, strengths and barriers, and your goals for therapy. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about my approach and the therapy process. We will come up with a plan for our work together. Please reach out and we can talk further about how I can support you on your journey.
As an empathetic and active listener, I believe in the power of listening more than I talk in order to understand and support you. I use a compassionate and collaborative approach to help you reach your goals. After approximately 15 years of experience in mental health, community centers, education and medical settings, I have a strong awareness of the systems that may serve as resources or challenges in your care. Having worked with birth to 3, young school-aged children, adolescents and adults I have an understanding of struggles across various stages of life. My toolbox is filled with a variety of techniques to use based on your needs. I work to maintain a strengths-based, trauma-sensitive, client-centered therapy. We will identify how your past impacts your current life, then try to remain present and solution-focused in sessions. I will meet you where you are and help you build skills as needed for areas such as: managing emotions, self-care, expressing needs/building healthy relationships, and navigating trauma reactions.
Integrative
I focus on holistic wellness – caring for the whole person in the context of the environment, mind, body and spirit. We will identify what your needs are in various areas of your life at any given time, and how to best care for all the parts of yourself. Treatment methods may include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Grief Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Seeking Safety and Integrative Mental Health.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I have training and experience in using DBT since 2008. I have taught skills-based and therapy groups focused on mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance. I try to incorporate these skills naturally into discussions in individual sessions when they apply to your therapy goals. I believe everyone can benefit from learning or improving on these skills. I will provide electronic versions of the handouts from the DBT workbook when appropriate or on request.

The main thing that drew me to Sarah was her specialty in spiritual issues as this is a major area I'm working on in my therapy journey. Sarah is a great listener and provides accurate reflections and insights based on the content I've shared. She holds space for authenticity while gently offering alternative future approaches. She's made this a wonderful experience so far, I look forward to future sessions.

Sarah left a safe space for me to speak. I didn't feel rushed. I felt like I could share whatever I wanted in a non-judgmental space. She ask really good questions that made me feel like she was interested in me and my story. And she approached writing out a plan as something collaborative that I ultimately was able to drive. I loved the approach, and I am very picky about who I hire for therapy. She was lovely.
