My name is Dr. Cathy Sigmund, Ph.D., CWM, CCTP; I am a licensed clinical psychologist and have been in practice for over 25 years. In addition to this private practice setting, I have worked in a variety of other settings including primary health, outpatient and hospital settings, schools, forensic and court settings, church, community and human service settings, as well as internationally as a consultant and educator. My specialty area is in holistic psychological evaluations that consider other areas of health and well-being, such as physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and relational health. I am a certified clinical trauma professional and also specialize in the integration of the Christian faith in counseling. In addition, I am a certified clinical trauma professional and specialize in the integration of the Christian faith in counseling. While I focus on evaluations and assessments, at times I provide very short term gap therapy (2 – 5 sessions) until a more long term therapist can be identified.
During the first session, you will complete a clinical interview and psychosocial history. We will review completed assessments and review information you provided during the interview. More than likely, you will complete additional assessments indicated by the ones you completed at home. After assessments have been completed and reviewed, I will offer my thoughts concerning diagnosis and treatment planning. We will work together to agree upon a plan that seems reasonable, and move forward with the plan. Next steps may include: - No additional assessment is needed and no further recommendations for counseling. - No additional assessment is needed, therapy/counseling is recommended. - Additional assessment is needed, you will be scheduled with me for another evaluation session. - Additional assessment is needed, you will be referred to a specialist for more in depth evaluation and treatment. Much less likely scenario - Emergency assessment is needed, you will be referred for emergency evaluation and services.
My specialty area is in holistic psychological evaluations that consider other areas of health and well-being, such as physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and relational health. This multi-system, psychoeducational approach tends to normalize and de-stigmatize mental health as just another aspect of holistic health and wellness.
Psychological and behavioral health evaluations are my specialty. I have extensive training and experience in psychological evaluations and treatment. It is important to me to accurately identify mental health diagnoses and/or behavioral concerns that capture what the individual is experiencing within their life experiences and context. Mental health concerns are often complex and require a multi-prong approach to address in an effective manner. I believe psychoeducation is key in assisting people to understand such complexities. Related, I am excited about working collaboratively with patients/clients to identify other salient resources which address aspects of mental health care beyond therapy, such as medical professionals, schools, social service agencies, pastors, clergy and others in crafting and providing holistic care, service and treatment strategies. This type of multi-system contextualization and psychoeducational approach tends to normalize and de-stigmatize mental health as just another aspect of holistic health and wellness.

Christian Counseling
I am a Christian psychologist and a licensed minister. I am also a retired tenured Professor of Psychology, Counseling and Human Services, and continue to teach in a graduate Counseling Program here in the U.S. and globally. I have found that integrating faith principles and practices in counseling assists people of faith in holistic growth, health and wellness.
