Hi, my name is Jeremy Alvarado and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California in 2017. I have worked in mental health settings for approximately 8 years. Through my practice, I have serviced adolescents and adults. Aside from working in mental health clinics, I also have experience working in schools.
During the first session, I want to hear your story. I will ask questions to understand who you are, the problems you are facing, and the changes you want to make. Together, we will make a treatment plan to help reach your personal goals.
I think my ability to show up authentically myself helps create unique relationships with my clients so that the feel like they can do the same, which is backed up by research to alleviate mental health symptoms.
I tailor my therapeutic approach based on client needs. I am a certified cognitive behavior therapist through the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies. I also have training and experience in Dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive process therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused therapy.
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT therapy) is a type of mindful psychotherapy that helps you stay focused on the present moment and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. think my ability to show up authentically myself helps create unique relationships with my clients so that the feel like they can do the same, which is backed up by research to alleviate mental health symptoms. I am genuinely invested in supporting others let down their mask and building up their self esteem in who they truly are.

Interpersonal effectiveness: This means understanding how to ask for what you want and need and setting boundaries while maintaining respect for yourself and others. Emotion regulation: This means understanding, being more aware of and having more control over your emotions.
Motivational interviewing is a counseling method that helps people resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior. It is a practical, empathetic, and short-term process that takes into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes.
Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a specific type of cognitive-behavioral therapy found to be effective for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in people who have experienced violence, abuse, natural disasters, or other traumatic events. CPT is short-term, typically conducted over the course of 12 sessions.
