My name is Paul Connors. I currently maintain my Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification in Pennsylvania. I have a broad mental health background which includes treatment in the residential, institutional, outpatient, and community based settings. While I began my career working primarily with youth who struggle with mental health and behavioral health concerns, I have spent the majority of my career working with clients from all across the lifespan.
I typically spend some time gaining background information, the history of presenting concerns, and the most prevalent challenges that the client faces at that time. I also allow time for the client to get to know me as a clinician so that they can have a better idea if I am the clinician best suited to work with them. I believe that rapport building and transparency are vital in the beginning stages of therapy.
My greatest strength as a clinician is my ability to maintain a sense of calm and remain supportive in the most stressful situations. I am also highly driven and motivated to continue learning and growing my clinical experience to better serve the clients that I work with.
I enjoy working with clients who are struggling with a wide variety of mental health concerns but are open and motivated to engage in the treatment process. However, I also find a great deal of fulfillment in working with clients who are initially hesitant or resistant to treatment in an attempt to help them become more open to treatment and seek the support that they deserve.
I utilize CBT to aid clients in gaining a better understanding of the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors
I utilize REBT to aid clients in identifying and addressing any self-defeating thoughts and feelings that are negatively impacting their overall mental health. We then work together to replace those thoughts with healthier more productive thought processes and feelings.
I utilize SFBT to identify and pursue goal-directed treatment interventions to address a clients presenting needs and concerns.
