I have a master of science in mental health counseling from Capella University. I am trained to work with individuals, groups, families and couples. I also have extensive knowledge and sensitivity in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar, difficult life transitions, parenting issues, relationship problems, LGBTQIA issues and other life challenges. My understanding of counseling comes from many different theoretical orientations. I believe that the client or clients have the solutions to their dilemmas within one’s self. Therefore the counselor does not have the “answers” to the client’s “problem” but is a facilitator of the process that helps the client take responsibility and action and come to a resolution. I am here to support and guide you on that journey.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we will get to know each other, go through you intake information and talk about what you want to achieve in our time together.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I use an eclectic approach drawing from therapies such as CBT, DBT, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, person-centered, and narrative. I don't believe that there is a one-size-fits-all when it comes to effective treatment and strive to utilize a variety of techniques to meet each client where they are currently.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My strengths as a counselor lie in being able to draw from a variety of theoretical backgrounds and approaches to find what works for each client. I believe that each individual can make changes that can better their life experiences and relationships overall and see myself as a guide in the process of reaching those goals.

Lorraine is incredibly easy to talk to and she has been very helpful in my journey of bettering my mental health over the past several months. She has provided me with the tools to work with and shown me such kindness and warmth, even when I am at my lowest points. She is amazing at what she does, and she will make you feel loved and respected.

Lorraine has been my best supporter for nearly two years now. When I started with her, I had seen several therapists and had made progress enough to no longer be suicidal, but I was struggling to rebuild my self-esteem effectively. Through working with her I have learned about my neurodiversity and how to regulate emotions effectively without over intellectualizing them which has drastically decreased the number of migraines I experience. I'm so thankful to have found Lorraine.
