Hi, I’m Dr. Phyl, a licensed therapist (LPCC in California, LMHC in Florida) with a doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology. I help adults and teens navigate anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, low self-esteem, and women’s issues using practical, evidence-based tools. My style is supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), humanistic and person-centered approaches, and motivational interviewing to meet you where you are and help you move toward lasting change. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready to grow, I’m here to support you with compassion, insight, and effective strategies for healing.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, my focus is on getting to know you—your story, what’s been bringing you in, and what you hope to get out of therapy. We’ll explore your goals, talk about what’s been feeling difficult or stuck, and begin identifying the patterns you’d like to change. You can expect a warm, supportive space where you’ll feel heard and respected. There’s no pressure to dive into everything all at once—we’ll go at your pace. I’ll also share how I work and answer any questions you have about the process, so you feel comfortable and clear about our next steps.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

With a Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology and dual licensure in California and Florida, I bring a strong clinical foundation grounded in advanced training, psychological theory, and evidence-based practice. My approach is never one-size-fits-all. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), person-centered and humanistic principles, and motivational interviewing to tailor therapy to each individual’s needs, personality, and goals. This allows me to meet you where you are—whether you're navigating anxiety, OCD, ADHD, low self-esteem, or high-functioning burnout—and support meaningful, lasting growth with both compassion and clarity. Clients often tell me they feel genuinely seen—not judged or rushed. I offer a calm, collaborative space where we can slow things down, explore what’s underneath the surface, and develop practical strategies for moving forward. I don’t just focus on symptoms—I help you understand the patterns driving them, build self-awareness, and reconnect with your strengths so you can move through life with more confidence and ease.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals who are ready to better understand themselves and make meaningful changes. Many of my clients are struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, low self-esteem, or women’s issues such as burnout, perfectionism, or navigating major life transitions. My ideal client may feel stuck in unhelpful patterns but is open to exploring new perspectives and learning practical tools for coping and growth. I’ll meet you wherever you are at with empathy, respect, and a collaborative, thoughtful approach. I also work well with high-functioning professionals who may appear successful on the outside but are privately struggling with anxiety, overthinking, low self-esteem, burnout, imposter syndrome or feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns. Many of my clients are navigating demanding careers, perfectionism, or transitions in their personal or professional lives. My clients are often insightful, motivated, and ready to do the work—but need a space where they can slow down, reflect, and feel supported. If you're looking for a thoughtful, collaborative therapist who offers both practical tools and a deeper understanding of what’s holding you back, I’m here to help.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. If you're feeling stuck in negative thinking, overwhelmed by anxiety, or weighed down by low mood, CBT offers practical tools to break the cycle. Together, we’ll identify unhelpful patterns and work toward healthier, more balanced ways of thinking and responding. My goal is to help you feel more empowered, supported, and equipped to handle life’s challenges with confidence.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In addition to CBT, my approach is grounded in person-centered and humanistic values—I believe that healing happens in a warm, non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard and understood.

Motivational Interviewing

I also incorporate motivational interviewing to help you clarify your goals, strengthen your inner motivation, and make meaningful, lasting changes at your own pace.
