New to Grow
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over six years of experience in the mental health field. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and families, supporting clients through a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management, low self-esteem, oppositional behaviors, life transitions, and relationship and family concerns. As a therapist, I pride myself on being genuine, compassionate, and approachable. I believe therapy should feel like a safe space where you can show up as your authentic self without fear of judgment. I understand that every person is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I meet my clients where they are and adjust my therapeutic techniques and interventions based on their individual needs, personality, experiences, and presentation. I enjoy getting to know the person behind the symptoms and creating a therapeutic relationship built on trust, honesty, collaboration, and understanding. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling to understand your emotions, navigating a difficult transition, working through past experiences, or simply wanting to grow, I believe therapy should be a space where you feel supported while also being encouraged to challenge yourself and make meaningful changes. My passion is helping clients recognize their strengths, develop healthy coping skills, build confidence, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves. I strive to create an environment where clients feel seen, heard, respected, and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.
In our sessions, you can expect me to listen, support, encourage, and, when needed, gently challenge you. I believe that sometimes we need someone who will not only listen to us but also help us look at things differently and encourage us to work through the obstacles standing in our way. My hope is that you leave therapy feeling heard and supported, while also gaining the confidence and tools to handle life’s challenges beyond our sessions.
One of the greatest strengths I bring to my sessions is my ability to build genuine rapport and create a comfortable, trusting therapeutic relationship with my clients. I want my clients to feel safe being themselves, expressing their thoughts and emotions, and discussing difficult experiences without fear of judgment. I am compassionate and understanding, but I also believe that growth sometimes requires us to step outside of our comfort zone. When appropriate, I gently challenge my clients to look at situations from different perspectives, recognize patterns, and work through the obstacles that may be holding them back. My goal is not simply to help clients get through what they are experiencing, but to help them develop the confidence, insight, and skills to challenge themselves and navigate future challenges with greater strength and resilience.
My ideal client is someone who is ready to be heard, supported, and understood, while also being open to growth and positive change. I enjoy working with clients who may be feeling overwhelmed by life stressors, struggling with their emotions, navigating relationships or family challenges, or working through experiences that have impacted their confidence and well-being. I understand that everyone enters therapy at a different place, so I do not expect my clients to have everything figured out when they walk through the door. I meet each client where they are and work collaboratively with them to identify their goals and determine what approaches work best for their individual needs. I especially enjoy working with clients who are willing to be honest with themselves, explore new perspectives, and take steps toward becoming the best version of themselves. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe enough to be vulnerable, supported enough to heal, and empowered enough to grow.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I believe that the way we think about ourselves and the situations we experience can have a significant impact on how we feel and respond. In sessions, we may work together to identify negative or unhelpful thought patterns, explore where those thoughts come from, and challenge beliefs that may be keeping you stuck. I use CBT in a way that is individualized to each client. Some clients may benefit from learning how to recognize and reframe anxious or negative thoughts, while others may need support with problem-solving, coping skills, communication, or changing behaviors that are no longer serving them. I also encourage clients to practice the skills we discuss outside of sessions so they can begin applying what they learn to their everyday lives. CBT is not about simply “thinking positively.” It is about learning to look at situations from a more balanced and realistic perspective, understanding yourself more deeply, and developing healthier ways to respond to life’s challenges. When appropriate, I will gently challenge my clients to examine their thoughts and behaviors while providing encouragement and support along the way. My goal is for clients to leave therapy feeling more confident in their ability to recognize unhelpful patterns, work through difficult emotions, and handle challenges with greater resilience.
I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore their own reasons for change in a way that feels supportive, nonjudgmental, and empowering. I recognize that change can be difficult, and sometimes we may feel unsure about what we want or struggle with taking the first step. Rather than telling clients what they should do, I work alongside them to explore their thoughts, feelings, values, and goals so they can identify what is truly important to them. During sessions, I use open-ended questions, reflective listening, affirmations, and thoughtful conversations to help clients recognize their strengths and identify both the challenges and possibilities that come with making a change. I may gently challenge clients when appropriate, but my goal is never to pressure or force change. Instead, I want clients to feel heard and supported while gaining greater confidence in their ability to make decisions and move forward. I believe that my clients are the experts on their own lives. My role is to help you uncover the motivation that is already within you, work through uncertainty, and develop realistic steps toward the changes you want to make. Whether you are working toward improving your relationships, managing emotions, changing behaviors, building confidence, or navigating a major life transition, I will meet you where you are and support you throughout the process. My goal is to help you move from “I don’t know if I can” to “I’m willing to try.” Change happens one step at a time, and we will work together to find the steps that feel meaningful and achievable for you.
When working with younger clients, I use play as a natural and engaging way to help children express themselves, communicate their emotions, and make sense of their experiences. Children do not always have the words or emotional awareness to explain what they are feeling, and play can give them a safe way to communicate what may be difficult to say out loud. I incorporate age-appropriate games, creative activities, toys, drawing, storytelling, role-play, and other interactive techniques based on the child’s developmental level, personality, and individual needs. Through these activities, we may explore emotions, coping skills, problem-solving, social skills, self-esteem, communication, and difficult experiences in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful to the child. My approach is flexible because I understand that every child is different. Some children may immediately feel comfortable talking and engaging, while others may need more time to build trust. I meet children where they are and allow the therapeutic relationship to develop at their own pace. I want therapy to feel like a safe space where children can be themselves, have fun, and learn without feeling like they are simply being asked a series of questions. I also believe that working with younger clients means working with their support system. When appropriate, I collaborate with parents and caregivers to help them better understand their child’s emotions and behaviors and provide strategies they can use at home. My goal is to help children develop the emotional language, coping skills, confidence, and resilience they need to navigate life’s challenges while allowing them to experience therapy as a safe, supportive, and positive environment.
