Hi! I am Dora Hudson, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Michigan as well as a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor. I received my Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Detroit Mercy with a focus on community, addiction, school, and career counseling and I have been practicing for sixteen plus years. I have assisted teens, young and older adults, and LGBTQIAs struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, career, and family issues. I strive to give you strategies on how to have more balance in your daily school/work/life stressors to ultimately help you to become a better version of yourselves. My person-centered approach helps with maintaining a good rapport with you while creating a holistic atmosphere for you to thrive in your goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with so many different types of people for the past 16 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you (a) identify the root cause of your challenges and (b) create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice and in the schools, I have worked in for the past 16 years. CBT has assisted me in helping hundreds of students and young and older adults with how to challenge their intrusive and negative thought patterns and how to effectively manage their anxiety. Teach them how to become emotionally intelligent and self-aware by identifying and demystifying their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how this impacts their beliefs, attitudes, and mindsets. We will set goals and produce solutions and strategies to help you live a more fulfilling life.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I have been using Person-centered (Rogerian) in my practice to create a safe and empathetic environment for my clients and students I have worked with for the last 16 years. This helps clients build trust and helps me build congruence by "acting as a mirror of your feelings and thoughts". This helps clients "to feel understood and maintain an awareness and sensitivity" to their experiences and perspectives.
