Hello, nice to meet you! Let me introduce myself, my name is Crystal Carrillo, a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist providing telehealth services to individuals throughout California. I have many years of experience working in outpatient settings, providing field services, crisis response services, and working in psychiatric settings. I am passionate on growth and change as we are people who are constantly changing and attempting to figure out life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session together will be a time of gathering information on what has brought you to seek treatment and we will discuss your personal goals while in therapy and establish therapeutic goals. The initial session/first session will be the session when we decide if we are able to work together and are a good match as client and therapist. It is very important that the individual feels comfortable with the therapist because if the individual does not this will definitely hinder treatment. If we both decide that we are good match a follow-up session will be scheduled.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have knowledge in various therapeutic orientations such as Behavioral Modification, Family Systems Therapy, Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, Narrative Therapy, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Seeking Safety. As a provider my approach is to utilize the theoretical orientation that meets your individual needs and goals, not a theoretical orientation that I favor. Therapy is expensive and it is time consuming, which is the reason I seek to utilize a theoretical orientation to meet your needs and that will help move you forward to meeting your personal and therapeutic goals. If you are ready to begin your healing process than I am here to work alongside with you to begin your journey of healing and change.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My areas of expertise are ADD/ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Divorce, Parent-Child Relational Issues, Family Relational Issues, Trauma, Victims of Abuse, Women Issues, Career Changes, Grief and Loss, Anger Management, and Life Transitions.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have provided treatment for individual with anxiety, depression, ADHD by using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT focuses on the principle that thoughts influence feelings, feelings influence actions and actions influence results. Why some clients benefit from CBT is that it teaches a person to identify triggers, have awareness of feelings, identifying distorted thoughts and basically connecting the dots from previous way of thinking to new form of thinking. By having clients visualize desired results, identify new coping skills, new thoughts, new feelings as CBT is about realistic thinking.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused is exactly that, focus is on finding solutions by using client's existing strengths and abilities and one change impacts the whole system. My role in this is help the client utilize their knowledge, skills and assist clients in doing something differently. This is present and future oriented. This does not focus on matter of the past.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Applying Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address traumatic life events. Together traumas are identified, coping skills and mindfulness skills are taught and put into practice and discussion of the trauma in a safe environment is discussed. Tools are revisited and applied in order to be able to cope and manage symptoms related to trauma.

Eclectic

Some theories and interventions are not suited for everyone and therefore applying an eclectic approach for individuals in therapy is needed. I meet you where you are and taking it one step at time along with interventions that may suit your needs. As always in order to move toward growth and change practice outside of sessions is valuable.
