I received my Masters in Social Work, Planning, and Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University have over 20 years of experience in the field of social work, advocating and serving people with disabilities in their community. I have extensive experience working with children and adults assisting them in both English and Spanish. I received my undergraduate degree in Studio Art from Mary Washington and also work as an accomplished artist. My love for art and social work is the focus of my practice. I work in the expressive arts and EMDR and am working towards certification in both. I believe in the healing power of art and its use in mental health recovery. Art allows us to bring about change inside ourselves and can support you as you move through your distress. I believe that recovery is always possible. If you are looking for recovery and change I invite you to reach out to me, be well.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session would focus on what is bringing you into counseling, some past history depending on what you feel comfortable sharing, and what you are hoping to get out of your counseling experience. The first session is also a time to get to know me and see if my approach "fits" what you are looking for. I am a strong believer that you deserve the care you need and want for yourself.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I am guided by expressive arts therapy, EMDR, practices in DBT and mindfulness/movement, solution focused therapy and CBT, all therapies are trauma informed

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I enjoy working in the expressive arts which includes but is not limited to visual arts, movement and music. I am creative by nature and enjoy using and sharing my creativity with others. I also have worked with people with disabilities the majority of my career, that includes people with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health disabilities.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with individuals with disabilities, which includes people with cognitive or physical disabilities. Ideally I would enjoy working with a person who wants a creative approach to counseling, we would use a combination of expressive arts techniques to help manage our mental health and past trauma.

After a few sessions with Rosanna, I have seen positive results in my life of therapy blooming again like I have not seen since receiving DBT as a child over a decade ago, and I have had a good few counselors and therapy methods usually including CBT over the years. She is great at helping lead me in our conversations and our work together when I am unsure where to take it or do not have a good answer, while also allowing me to lead making our sessions flow in a very authentic feeling way.
