Lets all admit our world is rapidly changing and there are a lot of crazy things going on. What are we to do and especially how are we to feel about all these changes? Individual therapy is one method of working towards gaining back control while you navigate the challenges of your life. Therapy can help you understand and manage your emotions. Therapy can decrease or eliminate the anxiety and depression that often feels crippling. There comes a time when you finally need to process and let go of your past trauma(s). Therapy is a safe and educational way to experience, express, and expel those traumatic memories so you can calmly enjoy life again. Do something just for yourself, you’ve earned it and make the decision to give therapy a try!
Our first session is easy. We will start by going over the rules of therapy and discuss scheduling, billing, expectations, and any other housekeeping questions you may have. We’ll talk about what happened and why you sought out therapy and we’ll work together to create goals customized for your specific needs. Therapy is a safe place for you to say anything and everything with no worries of sounding “crazy” or “a terrible person”. I strive to create a safe judgement-free space that is also relaxed professionalism.
I utilize a variety of therapy methods such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Psychoanalytic Therapy Art Therapy Motivational Interviewing Mindfulness Therapy Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Exposure Therapy Guided Therapeutic Imagery Relapse Prevention Intervention Family Therapy Crisis Intervention Anger Management Grief Therapy Alternative Methods
After research, experience, and talking to others I've come enjoy success by treating clients holistically. People are complex, layered, and ever changing. Using the holistic approach allows therapy to be customized and comprehensive for each individual. Some areas that we will review and work to improve are your biological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual connections. I also believe we can fix many of our mental health issues with good nutrition, supplements, healthy sleep, and good hygiene. Pharmaceutical medications are a last resort but do have a time and place. Some client's benefit from medication to help calm their mind enough to communicate and learn skills in therapy. I assist clients in creating questions for their doctor to discuss more about being a candidate for mental health medications.
