Hi there, I’m Dr. Temperance Thomas. Do you feel your moods are unpredictable and your actions are often exaggerated? Are you struggling to maintain self-control? Together we can develop and implement effective coping skills to maintain the stability that you need in your life to function day in and out. Counseling techniques, such as cognitive behavioral therapy can help you to understand how you think can contribute to the way you feel and behave to certain situations. I find that it is the safest technique to cover come moody behaviors.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I prefer to utilize Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) techniques to improve mental health. Both DBT and CBT are evidence-based therapies; however, DBT was originated from CBT. The goal for behavioral therapy is to help clients function appropriately by challenging negative thoughts and improving the client’s ability to manage their emotions. Some of the techniques includes; Cognitive restructuring or reframing; Guided discovery, Exposure therapy, journaling, Activity scheduling and behavior activation; Behavioral experiments; Relaxation and stress reduction techniques (deep breathing, muscle relaxation and imagery; Role playing, Successive approximation. However, I do use other techniques that are more appropriate and tailored to meet the client’s

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Both DBT and CBT are evidence-based therapies; however, DBT was originated from CBT. The goal for behavioral therapy is to help clients function appropriately by challenging negative thoughts and improving the client’s ability to manage their emotions. However, I do use other techniques that are more appropriate and tailored to meet the client’s treatment needs.
