Most of the women I work with look fine from the outside. You handle things. Underneath, you're exhausted, or you can't tell what you actually want anymore, or you react in a way that doesn't match the moment and replay it all night. Sometimes there's a clear event behind it. Sometimes a hundred smaller ones you never called trauma. This is what I've seen countless times in my 15 years of experience in the world of mental health. People don't heal because someone hands them the right insight. They heal when they can say the true thing out loud and not get managed, fixed, or flinched away from. I'm warm, I'm direct, and I won't be shocked by anything you tell me. Talking about what happened often isn't enough, because trauma lives in the nervous system as much as in memory. I use Internal Family Systems to help you get curious about the parts of you that took over because they had to; the one that overworks and shuts down. I add in DBT skills when you need something concrete, and somatic work to stay present without flooding. I use Solution-Focused Therapy on the days you need a concrete action plan. And other days, we will just allow our time together to unfold without a plan. Because the magic of therapy happens in the organic moments. You set the pace.

With over 12 years of dedicated experience spanning diverse age groups, I'm Megan—a compassionate and down-to-earth therapist committed to guiding individuals through the intricate landscapes of trauma.

To the incredible women seeking strength and healing: if you're yearning for empowerment, resilience, and a transformative journey, reach out. Let's navigate this path together. Your story is significant, and I am here to be your ally and guide. The first step toward healing begins with your outreach.

First session

Your initial session is a collaborative and supportive space where I meet you exactly where you are. We'll start by exploring some background information, understanding your unique experiences and concerns. Together, we'll identify goals for our work and discuss any specific challenges you're facing. I'll also assess the severity of symptoms you may be experiencing, ensuring a clear understanding of your needs. Building a strong therapeutic relationship is crucial, so we'll focus on establishing rapport and a sense of comfort. Additionally, we'll discuss logistics, including the frequency of sessions and what you need from me to make this therapeutic journey tailored to your goals and preferences. This first session sets the foundation for our work together, and my priority is to create a safe and collaborative environment where you feel heard and supported.

Strengths

As a provider, my greatest asset lies in my unique ability to build authentic relationships and foster trust. My approach centers around creating an atmosphere of comfort and ease, allowing clients to feel like they're speaking with a friend (while still maintaining professional boundaries) rather than a traditional therapist. I believe that genuine connections are the foundation of effective therapy. By prioritizing your comfort and creating a space where you can openly express yourself, my goal is to make our sessions feel like a conversation with someone you trust. This unique approach aims to break down barriers and promote a collaborative and supportive therapeutic journey tailored to your needs.

Ideal clients

You're competent, capable, and quietly running on fumes. Everyone describes you as strong, and you're starting to resent it. Maybe you're managing anxiety, old trauma you've never quite called that, or a relationship pattern you can see clearly and still can't stop repeating. Maybe you're late-diagnosed, or wondering if you are, and finally putting language to why things that look easy for everyone else have always cost you more. You've read the books. You've maybe tried therapy before and found it too surface. You're not looking for someone to tell you you're doing great, and you're not looking to be fixed. You want to stop white-knuckling it. You want to trust your own read on things. You want to feel like yourself in your own life, not just get through the week. You're looking for someone who can keep up with you, call you on it gently, and sit with the parts you've never said out loud.

Treatment methods

Attachment-based

I have extensive experience with attachment-based therapy, an approach rooted in understanding the impact of early relationships on our emotional well-being. Through a compassionate and collaborative process, we explore attachment patterns and work towards building secure connections. This therapy delves into how early experiences shape current relationships, providing insight and tools to enhance interpersonal dynamics. My goal is to support individuals in developing healthier attachments, fostering self-awareness, and promoting positive relational changes.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I bring significant experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, a practical and goal-oriented approach. CBT focuses on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and behaviors, aiming to replace them with healthier ones. I've successfully utilized CBT to help clients manage stress, anxiety, and depression, providing practical tools for problem-solving and creating positive change. My goal is to empower individuals by enhancing their self-awareness and teaching effective strategies for navigating life's challenges.

Psychoeducation

I integrate psychoeducation into my therapeutic approach to empower clients with knowledge and skills. This involves providing information about mental health, specific conditions, and effective coping strategies. By enhancing understanding, clients can make informed decisions and actively participate in their healing process. My experience in psychoeducation aims to equip individuals with tools that promote self-awareness, resilience, and sustainable well-being.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have extensive experience using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in my practice. DBT is a comprehensive approach that combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness. I've successfully applied DBT to help clients develop skills in emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. My focus is on creating a supportive environment where clients can learn and apply these skills to navigate challenges, improve relationships, and enhance overall emotional well-being.

Great session with Megan! She is funny, warm, astute and ready to meet you where you're at. She's like my favorite fuzzy knit cardigan on crisp fall evening, I felt safe and comfortable with her immediately.
