Janel Parker
"You may not be able to change every circumstance, but you can learn the tools to navigate what comes next." I believe therapy should be a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered. I use a strength-based, person-centered approach, incorporating CBT, DBT strategies, talk therapy, and solution-focused techniques. I help clients explore patterns from the past and understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors may impact their daily lives and relationships. Together, we work to build practical coping skills, recognize your strengths, and develop the tools you need to navigate life’s challenges. My goal is to help you discover your strength, trust yourself, and feel confident in your ability to move forward—ONE STEP AT A TIME.
First session
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a trusting relationship. You do not have to know exactly what you want to talk about, and you do not need to have everything figured out. That is okay. Come as you are. I will meet you where you are with empathy, support, and an open mind. Together, we can create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself and begin figuring out what comes next.
Strengths
I bring empathy, honesty, and accountability into every session. I meet clients where they are, but I am also willing to challenge them when growth requires it. I help clients recognize their patterns, take ownership of their choices, and identify what they can do differently. I believe you can feel supported while still being challenged to grow. My goal is for clients to leave therapy feeling heard, empowered, and capable of change.
Ideal clients
I don’t necessarily have an “ideal” client because I truly believe in meeting people where they are. Whether you are processing a change, ready to make a change, feeling defeated, needing a little push, or even feeling mad at the world, wherever you are in your journey, I am willing to meet you there. I bring empathy, support, encouragement, and empowerment into the therapeutic relationship, while also challenging you when you need that extra push. You do not have to have everything figured out before you begin. We can start exactly where you are and work from there.
Treatment methods
Strength-Based
I use an integrative approach, drawing from strengths-based, solution-focused, client-centered, and trauma-informed therapy. I also incorporate psychoeducation and DBT skills to help clients better understand their experiences, build coping skills, and develop practical strategies they can use in everyday life. My approach is flexible and tailored to each client’s individual needs and treatment goals.
