My name is Elizabeth, and I a proud LCSW, Mom and cat owner. My primary clinical background is in working with children and adults with Autism, ADHD and other neurobehavioral diagnoses. I also enjoy working with clients across the spectrum and beyond on treatment of anxiety and depression. I am an outside of the box thinker who enjoys learning what motivates my clients and makes them unique so that we can collaborate together and set realistic goals. I love helping people find and nurture their best selves. I am also a proud member of the neurodivergent community.
Our first session will be very conversational and as laid back as possible-you are here to see if I am the right fit for you and during our first session, we will determine what you want to get out of therapy. We will discuss your initial paperwork, answer additional questions or complete additional assessments, set your goals and figure out an initial plan for determining your goals and needs.
The therapist-patient relationship is so important and I strive to learn about you, your interests and preferences to make this experience as tailored to you as I can. I am creative in finding realistic and engaging ways to present information and build skills, and I always make sure we are operating as a team with full transparency.
I have primarily worked with adults, adolescents and children using cognitive therapy to work on social skills, emotional regulation, and management of ADHD, Autism, Depression and anxiety. CBT is a helpful tool for learning how your actions and feelings connect and teaching yourself more helpful habits, thoughts and behaviors.
Learning about you or your loved ones diagnosis is a crucial step in understanding your own needs and strengths. I incorporate psychoeducation into most sessions when clients are initially diagnosed in order to help understand what it means and understand how it impacts your daily living.
Sometimes we need support addressing a specific issue, or only have a few sessions covered. These sessions are highly collaborative and I have utilized this treatment modality while working with clients on parenting skills.
This model marries education, treatment and medication to create a more holistic, collaborate approach between providers. I am a big believer in integrative treatment of neurobehavioral disorders to ensure the diagnosis can be treated on a medical, physical and behavioral level.
I have experience with ACT therapy in the field of Autism care and have found this approach to be helpful in working with families adjusting to the care of a child with special needs.
