Hello. My name is Paige Fuqua. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina. I earned my master's degree in counseling from East Carolina University and have over 13 years of experience as a counselor. I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, and adults who are seeking support in making life changes, improving relationships, and feeling better both mentally and physically.
Clients can expect to identify what brought them to seek therapy and the outcomes they hope to achieve. I also talk about motivation to change and the willingness to accept personal responsibility in the change process.
My greatest strengths as a provider are my listening skills, insightfulness, and commitment to the therapeutic process. I believe all clients have the strength and ability to change and improve their circumstances. I am honest, direct, and supportive of my clients. I do not give advice or impose my personal beliefs onto clients.
I love working with all age groups, especially young adults. I encourage my clients to identify aspects of their life that are not allowing them to reach their fullest potential and keeping them from experiencing joy.
I have used CBT in practice with adolescents and adults. I use it in my practice to learn what clients want out of life, what they want to change, and then supporting them in achieving those goals. My role as a therapist is to listen, teach, and encourage, while the client’s roles is to express concerns, learn, and implement that learning. CBT is patient-centered, and solution focused. Every client has the ability to change if they are willing to do the work.
Motivational interviewing is a counseling approach designed to help individuals find the internal motivation needed to change their behavior. Therapists encourage clients to talk about their reasons for change and their commitment to it.
