I am a Professional Licensed Counselor (LPC) with many years of experience working with adolescents, teens, and young adults. I have worked as a contracted mental health therapist in the public school system for the past 7 years. Before that, I worked at a non-profit counseling center helping single moms and kids with emotional and mental health concerns. I have an MA in marriage and family therapy and an MA in trauma and crisis response from Liberty University.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session allows the client and therapist to get to know each other and the therapy process moving forward. It will enable the client to share the most critical issues and concerns. The therapist and client need to start building a therapeutic relationship. It is a good time for the client to ask questions and start helping the therapist create a treatment plan to create hope, healing, and growth.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Over the years, I have learned the importance of listening. Clients need to feel heard and understood when sharing personal struggles and challenges. I have built therapeutic relationships with each client and adapted to individual needs. Reading the client's body language, listening to their stories, and showing empathy and encouragement are just some of my strengths as a therapist.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Working with adolescents (male & female) and young adult women facing mental health challenges requires a compassionate, empathetic, and individualized approach. This population often navigates complex emotional, social, and developmental changes, which can amplify existing struggles or create new ones. Practical support involves building trust, offering validation, and empowering them to explore their feelings, develop coping strategies, and create sustainable pathways toward mental and emotional well-being. Understanding their unique experiences and providing a safe, nonjudgmental space are essential for fostering positive change and growth.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. It's particularly effective for Anxiety, Depression, Stress Management, PTSD, Relationship Issues, and more. CBT empowers clients to engage actively in their healing and self-improvement. It is a short-term structured process that teaches coping strategies.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a practical, goal-oriented approach to finding solutions. It focuses on client strengths, resources, and potential by setting goals, using scaling questions, future-focused, positive reinforcement, collaboration, and hope and optimism. SFBT can often bring about positive change more quickly than other approaches due to the nature of focusing on solutions.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy is a unique and transformative approach to therapy that focuses on the idea that the mind comprises different "parts" of the self that carry different feelings, beliefs, and behaviors. IFS helps individuals explore and heal these parts to create a harmonious internal system. IFS benefits are improved communication, healing family dynamics, increased empathy and understanding, strengthening bonds, breaking generational cycles, and creating growth and healing. IFS can facilitate healing, growth, and understanding on an individual and collective level, improve relationships, reduce conflicts, and create more harmonious and supportive family environments.
