I’m Rebecca Baruch, a board-certified psychiatrist and mental health nurse practitioner with more than eight years of healthcare experience.
I’m committed to providing exceptional care to people seeking mental health services. I’m open-minded and client-centered, and my goal is to help every patient feel empowered in their life.
First session
In a first session, clients can expect a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where they can share what brings them in and what they hope to achieve. I’ll listen carefully, learn about their history, strengths, concerns, and goals, and discuss any immediate safety needs. Together, we’ll identify possible next steps and begin creating a care plan that fits their needs. Clients don’t have to share everything at once, we’ll move at a pace that feels manageable.
Strengths
One strength I bring as a PMHNP is empathy grounded in my own mental health journey. I am compassionate and client-centered, and I strive to understand each person’s needs, strengths, and goals. I also encourage and motivate clients to recognize their potential and do their best, while providing respectful, evidence-based care and maintaining professional boundaries.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are people who are ready to work toward better mental health, while recognizing that readiness can look different for everyone. I enjoy supporting individuals with diverse backgrounds and needs, meeting them where they are, and building a trusting, collaborative relationship. My goal is to provide compassionate, client-centered care that helps each person identify their strengths, set realistic goals, and make progress at their own pace.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT in a collaborative, goal-oriented way, when it’s appropriate for the client’s needs. Together, we explore how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors may be connected, then identify patterns that are contributing to distress. I help clients practice skills such as reframing unhelpful thoughts, problem-solving, and behavioral activation, and we review what they learn between sessions. I tailor the approach to each client’s goals, strengths, culture, and readiness, and coordinate with a therapist or other providers when additional support is needed.
