Do you chronically say yes when you want to say no? Does the past become present when you don’t want it to and wonder why? Have you ever thought you have “gotten over” something only to find that it pops up again later? Have you had life experiences that continue to affect you today and you feel stuck or unable to heal? Using 19 years of experience, I help women and men reduce suffering, learn from, and heal the past, increase a sense of safety, meaning, and purpose, increase flexibility in thinking, and find what is effective and then do what works. I assist clients in working through trauma, anxiety, grief, low self-esteem, and life transitions.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first sessions will focus on introductions, answering your questions, providing an overview of the therapeutic process, the basics of therapy (confidentiality, consent for treatment, payment, cancellation policy, etc.), history taking and assessment, and goal setting. Together, we will decide if we are a good fit. If so, then the “work” begins. Healing occurs when we work collaboratively. You are an integral part of the healing process. I will meet you where you are and will encourage additional thoughts, possibilities, and understanding. You are in control and decide what fits and what doesn’t.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I use a variety of therapeutic modalities and protocols to assist with healing. These modalities and protocols include trauma-focused interventions (e.g., narrative, containment, grounding, orienting), psychodynamic, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, person-centered, elements of Neurolinguistic Programming and Eriksonian strategies, and expressive therapies. I am currently training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and will use concepts such as the Window of Tolerance, Adaptive Information Processing, and Dissociation as indicated. It is most important to me that you feel safe, heard, respected, and understood throughout.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

To each session, I bring curiosity, openness, hope, honesty, unconditional regard, non-judgment, flexibility, and creativity. Humor plays an important role as well. I do not believe in “one size fits all” when it comes to therapy. I will tailor sessions and interventions to meet your needs. I am open to your feedback about what works and what doesn’t and will adjust accordingly. Our work can be short-term or long-term. I use directive and non-directive styles depending on your needs and requests.
