I am a culturally responsive therapist who recognizes that culture, family experiences, identity, and life circumstances shape how we understand ourselves, navigate relationships, and respond to life's challenges. I strive to create a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where individuals can show up authentically, explore their experiences without judgment, and feel empowered to embrace their unique stories and strengths. With more than 15 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and families, I tailor therapy to meet each client's individual needs, values, and goals. Together, we explore the experiences, beliefs, and narratives that have shaped your life, including strengths and sources of resilience that may have been overlooked or undervalued. My approach helps clients uncover their inner resources, gain deeper self-understanding, and develop a more empowered and compassionate perspective of themselves. I believe that every person has a unique story worth understanding. Through a collaborative therapeutic process, I help clients identify patterns, build on their strengths, and create meaningful change that aligns with who they are and who they want to become.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first therapy session can feel overwhelming when meeting with a new provider. Whether you are just beginning to organize your thoughts or already have clear goals for therapy, I strive to create a space where you feel heard, respected, and valued. I am honored to be part of your journey and will take time to understand who you are and what matters most to you. Together, we will identify goals that are meaningful to you and explore how I can best support you along the way.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is building genuine, trusting relationships and creating space for you to feel comfortable with the therapeutic process. I understand that therapy can feel vulnerable, and I believe meaningful change begins when you feel safe, heard, and understood. I enjoy holding space for clients to fully explore their needs, whether that involves understanding emotions, recognizing behavioral patterns, processing the impact of past experiences, improving relationships, strengthening coping skills, or gaining clarity about life's challenges. I am both compassionate and goal-oriented in my work. While honoring your pace, I also provide practical tools, tangible strategies, and actionable steps to help you move toward your goals. When you feel ready, I will gently challenge and support you in exploring new perspectives, breaking unhelpful patterns, building on your strengths, and creating meaningful changes that align with the life you want to live.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals 12+ and older who are ready to start therapy to seek support for personal growth. You may be experiencing anxiety, trauma, life transitions, stress, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties and wants to seek clarity, understanding of how it shifts the way you move in society or wanting to find ways to manage strong emotions as they arises. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or uncertain about how to move forward, but are open to exploring new perspectives and developing healthier ways of coping. I provide a supportive, culturally responsive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can safely explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Whether navigating the unique challenges of adolescence, balancing the demands of adulthood, healing from past trauma, or working toward greater emotional well-being, I partner with clients to build on their strengths, increase self-awareness, and create meaningful, lasting change. I welcome individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, identities, family structures, and life experiences, and I strive to tailor treatment to each person's unique needs, values, and goals. Together, we work toward fostering resilience, empowerment, and a stronger sense of well-being.

My treatment methods

Strength-Based

In my therapy practice, I utilize a strengths-based approach with adolescents and adults ages 12 and older. This treatment method focuses on identifying, building upon, and empowering your existing strengths, abilities, resilience, and personal resources rather than concentrating solely on problems, symptoms, or deficits. Through a collaborative therapeutic relationship, I help you recognize your unique talents, coping skills, cultural values, life experiences, support systems, and personal achievements. Together, we explore how these strengths can be used to overcome challenges, enhance emotional well-being, and support meaningful personal growth. My strengths-based approach is culturally sensitive and affirming. I recognize that your identity, cultural background, family traditions, spiritual beliefs, community connections, and lived experiences shape how you understand yourself and navigate life's challenges. I strive to create a respectful, inclusive, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel seen, heard, and valued. Treatment interventions are tailored to align with your cultural values, preferences, and goals.

EMDR

Through EMDR, you are supported in working towards building tolerance in processing difficult experiences, strengthening adaptive coping skills, and moving toward greater emotional health, resilience, and personal growth while honoring your unique identities, cultural perspectives, and self. EMDR explore distressing life events, anxiety, negative self-beliefs, and other emotional challenges that has arise from traumatic or stressful experiences. EMDR is an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that helps the brain reprocess disturbing memories so they become less emotionally overwhelming and disruptive to your day to day life.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Are you ready or wanting to find ways to heal from traumatic experiences? TF-CBT integrates cognitive-behavioral, trauma-sensitive, and family-focused interventions to help you understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Through this structured and supportive approach, you will learn skills for emotional regulation, stress management, relaxation, cognitive coping, and healthy communication. As treatment progresses, you are supported in processing traumatic experiences in a safe and developmentally appropriate manner, allowing them to reduce distress and develop more adaptive beliefs about yourself and the world around you.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Through a collaborative and goal-oriented process, you learn to recognize cognitive distortions, challenge negative beliefs, and replace them with more balanced and realistic perspectives. CBT also emphasizes the development of practical coping skills, problem-solving strategies, emotional regulation techniques, and behavioral interventions that support improved functioning and overall well-being.
