I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, women’s issues, self esteem/ confidence and coping with the challenges of daily life.

I completed my Master of Social Work degree at University of Illinois- Chicago, Jane Addams College of Social Work. I have experience using evidence based treatment models: Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Strength-Based Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused, and Solution Focused Therapy.

First session

For our first session, we will work to get to know each other. I will want to gather current information, explore the reason for seeking care, and how I can help.

Strengths

Having worked in the field of mental health treatment for 20+ years, I have experience working at various levels of care- inpatient, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and integrated care. I am confident in my ability to evaluate, diagnose, make treatment recommendations, and implement care.

Ideal clients

I am focused on meeting the client where they are, providing warm validating reassurance in a supportive direct manner. I believe you are the expert on your life and encourage being in the present moment.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps to become aware of negative thinking patterns, which impacts mood and behavior. It is helpful to explore those patterns to identify cognitive distortions and ways to challenge those thoughts and reframe. This allows us to face challenging situations clearly and respond in a more effective way.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Using a wide variety of mindfulness skills, we can work on being in the present moment.

Psychoeducation

I provide a variety resources to for information because knowledge is power. The more you know what you are experiencing, the more you will be able to manage challenging or distressful situations.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Being in the here and now, explore the possibilities for the future, establishing goals, and implementing steps to get there.

Strength-Based

This involves building a collaborative relationship with emphasis on being an expert of self. Together, we focus on what is "working" in your life. Identifying and accessing personal, relational, and community strengths.

I consider her a huge part of my success in abstaining from alcohol and from working through issues I've had with people. She makes me feel heard and I can tell she really cares about what she's doing. She is also the reason I use grow as a platform in the first place
