I know that starting therapy can be scary and overwhelming. I am here to partner with you to discover what is getting in the way of the life you deserve. I work with adults to help them uncover what keeps them stuck in unhealthy patterns and provide tools so they can achieve their personal goals. I am here to help you establish better relationships with your loved ones, learn to set boundaries, and meet your full potential.
In our first session, we will go over informed consent to make sure you understand the limits of confidentiality. I will give you an opportunity to ask me about my background, experience, and approach to therapy. I will want to know about your history in therapy if you have been, what felt useful to you and what didn't. Then we can dive into what brings you to treatment and develop goals to work on.
I use a direct yet compassionate approach. I enjoy being able to laugh together and keep it real as we tackle difficult issues. Let's discover together what you are good at and how you can expand upon those skills to accomplish your goals.
I enjoy working with individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and or relationship issues.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps to examine core beliefs that drive negative thoughts/behaviors. Together we will identify ways that negative thinking keeps you stuck and reframe those thoughts to create powerful new beliefs that accurately reflect your life.
Our early childhood experiences shape our beliefs about the world, relationships and impact how we relate to friends, family, bosses etc. By exploring early relationships with caregivers, we can uncover unhealthy coping mechanisms that may have kept you safe as a child, but that no longer serve you. With insight, we can work to change this pattern and use new tools to promote better relationships.
Solutions Focus Treatment is about focusing on the future and finding the solutions to the problems you are facing.

I feel very fortunate to have been connected with Catherine Ramsay.
