(she/her)
Hi there! I’m Dr. Franchesca Meyers, the therapist behind The Elephant in the Room, where we tackle the “elephants” that sometimes feel too big to talk about. I work with adults who are juggling life’s stressors—everything from anxiety and self-doubt to overwhelming transitions—and need a safe, supportive space to open up. My style is warm and collaborative, inviting you to explore your thoughts, tap into your strengths, and find meaningful ways forward. Together, we’ll transform those silent, heavy challenges into steps toward a lighter, more fulfilling life. If you’re ready to embrace your resilience and step into positive change, I’d love to walk that path with you!
In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other and laying the groundwork for our work together. I’ll invite you to share what’s been on your mind—your main concerns, background, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. We’ll explore any questions you have about the process, and we’ll discuss how my collaborative, person-centered approach can support your goals. By the end of that session, you’ll have a sense of what our time together will look like and feel like, ensuring you feel comfortable, understood, and ready to move forward.
One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my genuine, empathetic presence—my clients often remark that they feel truly heard and understood. I also bring a collaborative, person-centered style, tailoring our time together to honor your unique experiences and goals. My practice is rooted in the idea of addressing the “elephant in the room,” meaning I’ll support you in bravely facing the issues or emotions you may have avoided. Finally, I draw on my extensive training and experience in family therapy and mental health, combining evidence-based techniques with warmth and compassion. This blend of authenticity, expertise, and heartfelt care helps me create a space where you can feel comfortable exploring the deepest parts of your journey.
Christian Counseling
Christian counseling is a heartfelt and meaningful approach that I offer when it aligns with the client’s desires. As a Christian myself, my faith shapes how I view the world, people, and the journey toward healing. However, I always prioritize meeting clients where they are, respecting their values, beliefs, and preferences. If a client wishes, I’m happy to incorporate elements of Christian counseling into our sessions. This might include prayer, exploring scripture, or drawing on biblical principles to navigate challenges and foster personal growth. For those who share this faith, it can be a comforting way to address emotional and spiritual needs in unison. At the same time, I’m committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive space for all clients, regardless of their faith background. My goal is to support each person in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to them, ensuring that they feel valued, respected, and empowered on their path to healing and wholeness.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical, evidence-based approach I use to help clients identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. Together, we work to reframe negative thinking, build healthier coping skills, and take actionable steps toward positive change. It’s a collaborative, empowering process that supports clients in creating meaningful and lasting improvements in their lives.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a compassionate, skills-based approach I use to help clients navigate intense emotions, improve relationships, and develop healthier coping strategies. Through techniques like mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, I support clients in building balance and resilience in their daily lives. DBT offers practical tools for creating lasting change and fostering personal growth.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-oriented and strengths-based approach I use to help clients focus on solutions rather than problems. Together, we identify what’s working, explore future possibilities, and develop practical steps toward achieving their goals. By highlighting strengths and small successes, SFBT empowers clients to create meaningful and positive changes in a short time.

The initial reason that drew me to select Dr. Franchesca Meyers was that she was seeing patients in person, but what have kept me coming back for close to a year. It is her ability to meet you where you are every single session, and to make sure you’re on a path of improvement.
