New to Grow
I have been practicing in the field for over 20 years and continue to seek opportunities to grow and expand my clinical skills by learning what each of my clients needs and tailoring their treatment as appropriate. I have worked in almost every setting and with all types of people, couples and families, and I enjoy assisting my clients with reaching their goals in therapy.
Our first session is typically more like a conversation throughout which I ask questions as the client shares what they are looking for in their treatment, what has and has not helped in the past, and generally what life is like for them at this moment in time. I will look for what coping methods are already in place, what negative core beliefs may be present, and what challenges are preventing progress as well as identify goals with the client for our time together.
I have been told that what makes me good at what I do is that I am easy to talk to, nonjudgmental, a good listener, and that I find ways to relate to my clients. I prefer to be on a journey with you rather than an "expert" across a desk, therefore my approach is fluid and individualized for each client. I tend to start with basic cognitive behavioral therapy strategies and always use a trauma-informed lens.
I find a way to work with anyone who seeks my services, however I do my best work when clients come with an open mind to what suggestions and feedback I may have. No matter the specific issues, concerns or goals, I enjoy working with those who are self-motivated to grow and learn along with me and who are invested in their own treatment.
The foundation of talk therapy utilized to consistently address what client can change to feel different and think more realistically and adaptively
I utilize EMDR and exploring maladaptive core beliefs to help clients identify how past experiences have shaped their perspective and affect them mentally, physically and emotionally
