LCSW, 20 years of experience
Hello and welcome, Have you wondered where the person you were has gone because of the anxiety and stress of a busy life, relationship issues, grief, stage of life issues, career challenges, etc? It takes self-awareness and courage to identify barriers to the life you want and to make the decision to work toward making those changes. I’m pleased to partner with you on this journey. I love to help clients put their challenges/concerns in the context of their current life and to help them achieve a vision of what they want their life to become.
The first session with my clients is devoted to introductions, discussion about the presenting issues and collaboration on development of a treatment plan.
My strengths as a therapist are that I listen to what people are not telling me, as well as what they are not telling me. I strive to help clients identify thoughts, feelings, experiences, and people who are part of the presenting problem and to help them resolve the issue. I am patient and treat clients with kindness, respect and empathy.
I love working with clients who are experiencing life transitions, whether the result of marriage, divorce, becoming caregivers, loss of employment or spouse, depression, anxiety, job stress, or any other reason. My clients are engaged and expect to develop better insight, learn new coping skills and see improvement or resolution to the presenting problem.
I have used CBT throughout my career. I use this method to educate clients on how thoughts and beliefs are connected to behavior, sometimes resulting in undesirable results. This provides the opportunity to use new skills to change behavior.
I utilize Christian counseling when a client expresses the importance of spirituality in his/her daily life and wishes to include this in treatment.

I have gone to other therapists but Deborah stands out to me as one of the best. She challenges me, helps me come up with ways to deal with the issues I am working on. She gives me insight on how I might have got to the place I am at now and hope for ways to find solutions and healthier ways to deal with my depression.
