Asha Belk
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a background in school-based mental health, crisis intervention, and youth and family support. I am passionate about helping children, adolescents, and young adults navigate anxiety, stress, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, and relationship concerns in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. My approach is warm, collaborative, and strengths-based, with a touch of humor, focused on helping clients feel empowered, understood, and capable of meaningful growth. A motto that I often refer to is, "find a way or make one". This phrase is a testimony that we will always be our best advocate in any situation we face.
First session
During our first session, my goal is to create a safe and comfortable space where you can share your story at your own pace. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your goals, and begin identifying strengths, challenges, and patterns that may be impacting your well-being. I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative, so together we will create a plan that supports your individual needs and goals.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths is my ability to build authentic and trusting relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds and experiences. I combine empathy with practical, evidence-based strategies to help clients strengthen coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and increase self-awareness. My experience in education and community-based settings has also strengthened my ability to support individuals navigating complex systems, stressors, and transitions while maintaining a culturally responsive and client-centered approach.
Ideal clients
I am best positioned to support children, adolescents, and young adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, self-esteem challenges, emotional overwhelm, and stress related to school, relationships, or identity. My ideal clients are individuals who may feel stuck or disconnected but are motivated to gain insight, build healthier coping skills, and create meaningful change in their lives. I provide a warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive space where clients can explore their experiences openly while working toward greater confidence, emotional wellness, and balance.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns, build practical coping skills, and develop new ways of responding to stress, anxiety, and everyday challenges. My approach is collaborative, structured, and focused on creating meaningful, lasting change.
Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I take a culturally sensitive approach to therapy, honoring how culture, identity, and lived experiences shape each person’s story. I support clients in exploring the impact of race, family dynamics, and cultural expectations while creating a space where they feel seen, respected, and understood.
Strength-Based
I help clients recognize and identify their strengths, and we work together to reframe and increase self-understanding.
Trauma-Informed Care
My empathetic approach ensures clients feel heard during their healing journeys. I combine evidence-based practices with a compassionate, person-centered method, tailoring sessions to individual needs. I focus on fostering resilience and promoting well-being for individuals and families navigating trauma.
Faith-based therapy
My faith is very important to me. If client would like to discuss from a faith perspective, I welcome the opportunity to do so.
