Hi! I am Yuxi (Karen). I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) practicing in the State of California with over ten years of experience in various healthcare settings. I firmly believe that every individual's journey is unique and powerful, and I am a staunch advocate for person-centered care. I would be honored to have the opportunity to become a part of your journey and provide support as we navigate through your difficult times.
In our first session, I would love to hear about your concerns, struggles, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. Through our conversation, I will conduct a biopsychosocial assessment to better understand your unique experiences. You will also have the opportunity to get to know me – my style, my approach – and I encourage you to ask any questions you may have about this journey together.
Clients often describe me as warm, caring, intelligent, and insightful. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where individuals can freely express their concerns, explore alternative choices, discover self-empowerment, and embrace positive changes.
I have many years of experiences providing individual and group counseling to adults, seniors, caregivers for people living with dementia, as well as domestic violence survivors. I assist clients in addressing a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to stress and anxiety, depression and other emotional difficulties, relationship and interpersonal issues, grief and loss, life transitions, and immigration stress and adjustment.
I use psychodynamic therapy to help the clients explore their unconscious patterns, emotions, and past experiences that may be shaping their present lives. Through open and meaningful conversations, I guide the clients to recognize recurring relationship dynamics and unresolved conflicts, fostering insight and emotional growth. This journey empowers clients to develop healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and connecting with others, leading to a more fulfilling life.
I will provide the clients with a safe and supportive space where they can explore their thoughts and emotions freely, without fear of judgment. My role is to listen with empathy and help the clients gain self-awareness and confidence in their decision-making. Through this process, the clients will develop a stronger sense of self and the ability to navigate challenges in a way that aligns with their values and personal growth.
Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I guide clients in exploring how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. I support them in recognizing distorted thinking patterns and help replace these with healthier, more positive, and helpful ways of thinking and acting.
In Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), clients and I focus on building skills to manage intense emotions and improve relationships. Together, we will explore mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and how to communicate more effectively, so the clients will feel more balanced and empowered in their daily life.
