I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor based in Raleigh, North Carolina. I have over 20 years of experience working in a variety of settings with adolescents, adults, families and couples with difficult challenges in life. Some of these challenges include: work/school related stress; relationship problems; coping with crisis; self-esteem issues; emotional disorders; anxiety; depression; and PTSD/trauma. My work is centers on providing a non-judgmental, supportive, compassionate and professional space for you to gain insight into your life.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session together, we'll start with a brief introduction, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. Also, feel free to ask questions and share what has worked in the past and what hasn't been so helpful.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Strong communication is one of my greatest strengths as a therapist. I bring a calm, approachable, and personable presence to sessions and strive to create a safe, empathic, and judgment-free space. My goal is for you to feel comfortable sharing openly—especially when discussing sensitive or difficult topics. I listen attentively and with compassion, honoring your experiences and perspective.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work best with clients who are motivated to grow and open to exploring their experiences in a safe, supportive space. My goal is to help you feel comfortable enough to share your challenges openly so we can work together to identify solutions that align with your needs and goals.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients experiencing grief by supporting them in accepting painful emotions, reducing avoidance, and reconnecting with their core values. ACT allows clients to honor their loss while also rebuilding a meaningful life. Through mindfulness, defusion strategies, and values-based action, clients learn to hold grief gently while moving forward a their own pace.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is a structured and interactive therapy approach I use with most clients. CBT is a collaborative approach that allows clients to set their own agenda and prioritize what's most important to discuss during therapy. We often summarize and agree on homework for accountability purposes.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
I have advanced training in ERP, the gold standard treatment for OCD. Over the years, I have used ERP with adolescents, young adults, and adults struggling with a wide range of OCD presentations, including contamination fears, checking behaviors, and intrusive distressing thoughts. Client's will learn to face feared situations in small manageable steps while resisting compulsions, building resilience, confidence, and freedom from OCD's grip.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
I have several years of experience providing couples counseling using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidence-based approach grounded in attachment theory. In my work with couples, I help partners understand the patterns that keep them stuck, such as pursuer-withdrawer cycles-and guide them toward expressing deeper emotional needs in ways that promote safety and connection. I help couples move from conflict and disconnection toward healthier communication, stronger emotional bonds, and a renewed sense of partnership.
