Hello, my name is Brittney. Since getting my master's degree in Social Work at the University of Connecticut in 2018, I have gained extensive experience in many areas. I have worked with families, adults, adolescents, children, and couples between the ages of 3 and 75. I have gained specific training in substance abuse, autism evaluations and diagnosis, and trauma. Most recently, I completed my advanced training in EMDR therapy. I am a clinician well-versed in different areas, including the education system. Before becoming a social worker I was working as a special education teacher. From there I knew I wanted to dive deeper in understanding and guiding others. As a teacher, I felt limited in what I could help with. Now, the sky is the limit and I am open and ready to help others in every way possible.
In a session with me, you can expect the environment to be calm and organized. The environment, or virtual experience, is open and non-judgmental. I will meet every client where they are, so you will find I am very malleable. It is always a safe, comfortable, and inviting space. I am good at taking things slowly or fast, and if needed I can be the person who will aid in asking the hard questions that will lead to ultimate change.
My greatest strength as a provider is my ability to match where my clients are. I am flexible and open to help in all ways I can.
As a tri-lingual clinician, I always meet clients where they are at in their lives. I enjoy working hard using motivational interviewing to assist clients in seeing the best versions of themselves. I find short-term crisis intervention skills and solution-focused therapy important for many clients. I used these skills regularly while working in a group home with children coming out of hospitalizations and returning home. For those needing help to unpack their past, I am also good with trauma-focused therapy. More recently focusing on EMDR to help reprocess those memories. In family sessions, I take the skills I have learned as a functional family therapist and help to create a more cohesive living environment. As I am versed in many therapeutic areas, my ultimate joy is catering to each person and helping them reach their desired goals and grow with them. I have worked with many mandated clients in the past, and I have found that a strength of mine is showing clients that not all therapy and therapists are the same. We each have different skills but are all looking for the best outcome for our clients. So, as long as you are willing to give me a chance, I promise something good will come out of this and I will do my best to meet your needs.
