I'm a Master's level Licensed Professional Counselor that resides in and works in Texas. I have been in the mental health field since 2008 and licensed since 2013. Due to working at the Local Mental Health Authority, with a Medicaid provider, and in private practice, I have worked with a lot of different types of clients over the past 18 years.
In our first session, I plan to, of course, ask a lot of questions about what is bringing you in, what has been going on in the past, and how you've been handling things so far. If there is a question you feel uncomfortable answering, I'll just ask you to give me a general picture of the concern till you feel more comfortable telling me the details. These questions will help us create a plan of what to work on in the future. After creating a plan, I will let you ask me any questions or concerns you have about me so we can address any worries you have about myself or therapy.
I have been repeatedly told that I am easy to talk to as a counselor and set my clients at ease. I also enjoy providing a lot of education about the brain, body, and how the two interact with one another. Since I am a counselor in the LGBTQ+ community who is located in a challenging area for that particular community, I have a lot of insight and experience coping with those particular challenges, which can be especially helpful for my teenage and young adult clients who may be struggling with those issues in this area. I also have addiction and mental health disorders in my family, so I have personal experience I can share with and add to the therapy sessions.
A lot of the clients I see are coming to me because they are doing the best they can with a bad situation, and they don't know how else to handle it. They are eager to learn about how they respond to people, places, & situations, understand the mind/body connection, and find solutions that work for them in handling stressors and concerns.

CBT is the primary treatment modality I use, and it is the treatment method I have used the longest. I use this treatment method to help my clients understand how they respond to situations, how their prior history and trauma influences their current reactions, and how to change their thinking and behaviors. I've noticed that the more my clients understand themselves the better they can handle stressors and find helpful solutions for themselves. While this treatment typically has a lot of written homework assignments, I attempt to tailor it to my clients and what they are willing to do and work on.
I am an EMDR Certified Therapist (certification provided by EMDR International Association). I primarily use this therapy to help my clients process trauma and troubling experiences in their lives. While this therapy is intense, it can be beneficial and sometimes quicker than processing trauma through other modalities. This treatment method can also help with mood disorders, addiction, and anxiety disorders. I have been certified and using this therapy for a little more than a year.

So far, I'm liking Nicole's approach to my therapeutic needs. We're still getting through the background of what makes me tick. With her help, I expect to strengthen my relationships and rebuild what is lacking in my personality, grow as a human being and discover some self respect along the way. All in all, at this point, I'm pleased with the level of care I seem to be receiving. Thank you Nicole!!

Nicole is a great fit for me. I had some trouble finding a therapist I could really connect with in the past, but I have with her. She is openminded and works with my schedule. I find her demeaner comforting and accepting. She is helping me with current issues as well as underlying trauma. I really feel like I am in good hands.

She listens closely, pays attention, asks great questions, and has a very welcoming and calming demeanor. She has always made me feel heard and puts me at ease. She has helped me work through a lot of things in the past and is continuing to do so. Every time that I have left her office, I have felt better than when I had gone in. If there was an option to give even more than 5 stars, I would.
