New to Grow
I am licensed in Minnesota with almost 11 years of professional work experience. I have always believed in the potential of each person as an individual and my goal as a therapist is to help each person find new ways to approach the obstacles that keep them from achieving their full potential and being secure and content in who they are. I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy or DBT, Buddhist Concepts like Present Moment Living and Mindfulness, and Behavioral Activation to assist people in areas that include Depression, Anxiety, Addiction, Trauma, Family Dynamics, and Chronic Pain and Aging. I am currently working to become a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist. Personally, I love dogs, nature, animals, and doing crafts like knitting and crocheting. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey.
In the first session, I will spend time actively listening as you tell me about yourself and what brings you to therapy. The first session should serve to help build trust in a safe, nonjudgemental space for you to share your experience and what you feel you will need to help you cope with the ups and downs of life and make the changes you feel are needed.
I believe my greatest strength is the therapeutic relationship. I have always been able to help clients feel at ease and help them feel comfortable talking about whatever they need to share and work on. I am solution-focused and my experience with DBT, CBT, Behavioral Activation, and Motivational Interviewing helps clients learn skills that will help them change their thought processes to more effective ones, learn to calm themselves, be mindful, and find the motivation to make the changes they want to make in their lives.
