Greetings, I am a licensed clinical social worker, specialized in mental wellness and talk therapy. I received my Masters Degree from University of Pennsylvania and my undergraduate degree at Slippery Rock University. Both experiences, one from an Ivy League University and the other from a PA State System School, equally impacted my love for this helping profession. I look forward to coming alongside you on your healing journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our "Get to Know You Session", (the first session) we will explore your goals, take time to better understand barriers and/or social and emotional impediments to recovery, and create a client focused plan that will direct our future sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

You are going to get 100% of me during your sessions, my greatest strength is my ability to be laser focused on the things that are most important to you. I am an "out of the box" thinker, so if traditional means have not worked for you, we will explore other ways to get you through your healing journey. I pay close attention to detail, words, and body language. I will always address the "elephant in the room" if one arise; "reading between the lines" is my specialty, I understand that verbal communication is just one way that we communicate.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I was traditionally trained in CBT and attend trainings each year to continue to master this method of treatment. CBT sessions start with a check-in and review of the goals set previously, a discussion about the progress from last session, typically focused on 1-3 goals that clients get to practice on their own time (between sessions). CBT session always end with a new assignment to move clients closer to their goal. This method is a blend of psycho-education, hands on practice, and reviews (check-in) of progress.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

In Culturally Sensitive Therapy, we examine how the client's identify themselves in the world and the impact culture plays in their identity. We dive into the how to re-invent the cultural narrative to ensure that self care is a part of the client's routine, while exploring the societal conditions that also impact culture and mental wellness. The goal is to explore, empower, and create a safe place for healing.

Grief Therapy

In Grief Therapy sessions, we explore the impact of loss, educate about key components of grief and create a client centered approach to their healing journey. We unpack guilt, love, regret, and forgiveness to begin the healing journey.

Psychoeducation

Psycho-education is one of my favorite forms of therapy, we explore healing through a variety of methods. I provide education and discuss best practices to address many of the issues that impact mental health such as physical health diagnosis, medication management, as well as the social determinants of health that impact the client.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma Informed Care sessions are focused on helping the client better understand how unfavorable and traumatic events of the past impacts the human body, mental wellness, behavior, and quality of life. Clients learn to identify unhealed situations, understand how the body hold negative energy, and how to heal and cope in a healthy way to prevent cycles of dysfunction from continuing. Sessions blend psycho-education, body scans (self-care method), and guided imagery to begin the healing journey.
