About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Washington, DC but I am also licensed in Maryland and Virginia. I received my Masters of Social Work from North Carolina State University in North Carolina. I have worked in mental health and substance abuse field since 2005. I enjoy working with young adults and up. My clinical focus is centered around those that have concerns with anxiety, depression, sexual aggression and substance use. My therapeutic orientation is psychodynamic which includes aspects of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I tailor to the needs of each individual client.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Over the past few years, I have learned that people are different and require different strategies when trying to achieve their goals. I have been able to stay focused on the goals we create and helping clients find ways to achieve them.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love working with young adults who are transitioning from high school to college and/or adult entering into their careers. My clients are willing to take the information they need in order to change behaviors within their life. They often feel overwhelmed, anxious and need coping skills to figure out next steps.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is an evidenced based treatment method used in to help clients focus on their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how they all connect. CBT helps people by changing the way they think and behave, leading to improved mental health and better overall functioning.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is a therapeutic intervention that involves teaching clients about their mental health conditions and the treatment processes to empower them and enhance their understanding.
