Hello! Do you feel a need to improve yourself, your relationships, or our life but find it is unclear or hard not to fall back into old patterns? This is especially true if you a part of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities as getting support and building community does not come with a guide and can change as you change. I can help through my lived experience as a Black, Non-binary polyamorous person who have had similar struggles navigating my life and my relationships. We will focus on discussions ???

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I will talk about what brings you into therapy as well as who I am as a therapist which include my background, my training, and my personality. I will use humor and actively listen while we navigate pertinent information about you. This could include emotion management, coping strategies, race/ethnicity, gender and sexuality, hobbies, and harmful thoughts/behaviors to name a few topics. I will ask about supports you have currently for your mental health, both solitary activities and folks you can rely on. I will embody a calm and curious presence throughout while checking in similar to meeting a new person that you may want to consider repeated interactions with.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe that everything is connected which gives us options on how we can interact with the world, as well as gives us so many influences that can affect us. I am not the expert of your life and never will claim to be, I will point out patterns that you may not see yourself and assist in trying more helpful behaviors to add to your coping strategies. These approaches and more can result in more satisfaction, less isolation, and a greater sense of self that we consistently work on session after session. My therapy does have plenty of emotional work within sessions as well as humorous comments and relatability that can provide a balance for personal growth.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

BIPOC young professionals seeking better understanding of their emotions that are hindering their interactions with others. Families that are seeking support in interactions with LGBTQ+ youth that they want to build a better relationship with. Individuals who are exploring their gender or sexuality as well as partners who are exploring non-monogamous relationship structures and need a non-judgemental space to discuss what this exploration could entail.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We explore your thoughts that can hinder how you interact with others. We discuss ways they impact your feelings and behaviors and shift thoughts to experience a more satisfactory outcome.

Family Therapy

I give space for each family member to discuss their experience and facilitate understanding of different perspectives. I utilize interventions to help families understand generational patterns and possible supports.

Gender-affirming therapy

I am able to discuss the inner being of clients and how one chooses to express themselves without judgement. I explore how one chooses their placement on the Gender Spectrum and open to how it may change as times goes on.

Humanistic

I believe everyone has free will and have the potential to grow. I invite that into the therapeutic space through discussions and suggestions, rarely as demands towards clients.

Relational

I bring an understanding that the therapist and client(s) each bring a version of ourselves into the therapeutic space that we then co-create. I state my backgrounds/lived experiences within sessions if there is relevance in doing so and invite clients to do the same.
