New to Grow
I have degrees in Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy. Following college I gained experience to become a licensed therapist at a non-profit setting. In this setting I supported a wide range of populations such as, teens, adults, families and couples. While gaining knowledge about various mental health needs such as anxiety, OCD, and eating disorders, I learned that the populations I enjoy helping the most consist of couples and individuals struggling with relational trauma. I enjoy continuously learning about new advances in the mental health field and stay well connected to this information and other therapists within my role as Secretary for the Sacramento Valley California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. I have learned to use Emotionally Focused Therapy, Brainspotting for trauma processing, trauma informed care and other evidence based therapies to help my clients reach their goals during our time together.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Within our first session my main goals are to help the client feel comfortable in what can often be a daunting experience, wether or not they have been in therapy before, as well as to ensure the client feels heard and supported while we collaborate to create goals for treatment.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I recognize that there is not a "one-size-fits-all" approach to successful therapy. By meeting each individual where they are, creating a safe and judgement free space, and recognizing that change can take place in many different ways, I strive to help my clients feel empowered during every stage of therapy.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I do my best to meet each client where they are at the start of therapy. While this means that some clients need support in discovering what life patterns may be contributing to their unhappiness, I have found that clients who are aware of the areas in their life that they are ready to change and understanding that change can require time and commitment are most receptive to therapy and able to reach their goals.
Attachment-based
I incorporate attachment-based therapy into my work with couples and individuals with the use of Emotionally Focused Therapy as well as when providing trauma informed care.
Brainspotting
When clients are feeling stuck in talk therapy, incorporating this somatic form of processing can help increase awareness of and the ability to sit with difficult emotions which can be integral aspects for trauma healing.
Relational
I view therapy from a systemic lens that allows me to better understand the impact that relationships have on our mental health and day to day lives.
