(she/her)
My name is Nikki, I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Connecticut. I have over 10 years of experience helping adults with addiction and mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, anger, stress, self esteem and healthy relationships. I am a big believer that everyone should have access to therapy because we all need a safe, unbiased person to talk to. I strive to create an environment where people feel supported, empowered, and motivated to work on their goals.
Our first session together is about getting to know you, what brings you to therapy and what your therapy goals are. We will review your intake paperwork and some additional questions so I can get a better understanding of your background and what your current concerns are. This session will help us determine if we are a good fit for each other. I want to ensure I am the best clinician to help you achieve your treatment goals. If we determine that I’m the best fit for you, we’ll create your treatment plan that will guide our work together. We will also go over privacy, mandated reporting and overall expectations for our sessions. If we decide that I am not the best clinician for you, that is okay, we can refer you to a provider that might better suite your needs. First sessions can be nerve-racking for some individuals, but I encourage you to come as you are. I strive to meet clients where they are at by being open-minded and supportive. Therapy is most effective when there is honest and clear communication. I want you to feel respected, seen, and safe.
I meet clients where they are at. I’m able to accept and welcome clients as they are and encourage them to share their concerns with me openly and honestly without judgement. I am empathetic, compassionate and have a genuine interest in my clients. I am able to assist clients in identifying their strengths and how those strengths can be used to achieve their goals.
The goal of my practice is to help clients who are motivated and willing to make changes in order to reach their therapy goals. In my 10+ years of experience I have worked with clients from a variety of backgrounds. I work best with those struggling with addiction, depression, anxiety, stress, self esteem, and relationship issues.
