I’m a therapist who believes therapy should be real, practical, and actually helpful in your day to day life. My work is grounded in REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy), which focuses on how your thoughts shape your emotions and behaviors and how to shift what’s not working. It’s less about just changing thoughts and more about challenging the unrealistic expectations we put on ourselves, other people, and life. It teaches you how to deal with reality even when reality is inconvenient, unfair, or just plain annoying because let's be honest, life is going to life, and it's in our best interest to learn how to accept that fact while still honoring how we may feel about it. While I consider myself an REBT therapist it's important to note that I don’t do "one size fits all therapy." I pull from approaches like CBT and Narrative Therapy and I tailor the work to fit you, not the other way around. At my core, I lead with a humanistic approach, which means you’ll get honesty, support, and a space where you don’t have to filter who you are. With couples and families, I use Family Systems approaches along with the Gottman Method (Level I certified) to help improve communication, rebuild trust, and create stronger, healthier dynamics.
In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other, talking through what brought you to therapy, and beginning to build a foundation of trust. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, current stressors, and what you want to get out of this process. I also tend to dive in fairly quickly. By the end of the session, my goal is to have a clear understanding of what you’re struggling with and a direction for where we’re headed. Most clients leave that first session feeling heard, understood, and clearer about what we’ll focus on moving forward.
My greatest strength as a provider is that I aim to meet you where you are are, but I don’t leave you there. That means we’re actively working toward change, not just talking about it. We’ll identify the patterns that are keeping you stuck, challenge the thoughts that are fueling them, and build practical skills you can actually use. I’ll help you gain clarity, take ownership of what’s in your control, and make changes that lead to real, measurable progress. I bring a balance of warmth and directness. I will support you, and I will also challenge you in the moments that matter. My goal isn’t just for you to feel better in session, it’s for you to see meaningful, lasting change in your life. I take this work seriously. I show up prepared, engaged, and intentional, and I expect that same level of investment from my clients. Because of that, clients who engage in the process tend to experience real, consistent progress. They gain clarity, build emotional resilience, and develop skills they continue to use long after therapy ends. You can expect honesty, practical tools, and accountability, all within a space where you feel supported, respected, and understood.
The clients I work best with are ready for change, even if they’re not sure exactly how to get there yet! They’re open to being honest with themselves, willing to be challenged, and looking for more than just a space to vent. They want clarity, direction, and tools that actually make a difference in their daily lives, so they are ready to try because we've all heard that old adage about doing the same thing over and over again yet expecting different results...So let's stop that cycle and move in new directions, you might be surprised at what comes about!

I'll admit that I really didn't want to do therapy to work on my marriage. My husband and I began seeing Heather during a particularly challenging time in our relationship. From the very first session, we felt heard, respected, and supported. She created a safe, nonjudgmental space where both of us could speak openly and work through our issues. What stood out most was her solution-focused dialogue and how authentic she was. Looking forward to our next session.

I think Heather does a great job being welcoming and understanding while also pushing me to call out my own fallacies and work towards correcting them. I've made a lot of progress in just the couple months I've been working with her, and I am very grateful that her style connects with me so well.

She is extremely well rounded and I feel like I can trust her with the most intimate details of my life, which I haven't had in other therapist.
