"Healing may not be so much about getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn't you – all of the expectations, all of the beliefs – and becoming who you are." - Rachel Naomi Remen Hi there, I’m Lauresha Zinatae! Are you having challenges with finding the courage to seek healing that may keep you from becoming the best version of yourself? With an acquired passion for serving and inspiring people from all walks of life, I assist with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and trauma. While utilizing trust and rapport as the foundation for our therapeutic relationship, my approach to therapy comes with an eclectic style based on meeting your unique needs. I have 13 years of experience as a mental health professional in residential treatment facilities, mental health outpatient clinic, as well as at an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting, where trauma-informed care and advocacy is utilized to exemplify a passionate commitment to serving disadvantaged youth, adults, and elderly, including other vulnerable and at-risk populations such as dual-diagnoses.
During our first session, clients can expect brief introductions. As I believe laughter is truly good for the soul, clients can also expect a sense of humor (when or if appropriate). Clients can also expect that they receive a thorough clinical assessment that will assist in tailoring their treatment plan, as well as a discussion about whether the provider and client feel that it may or may not be an initial good fit for both parties.
I honor trying my best daily, while always remaining to be authentically me throughout my practice. I do my best to create a space where clients feel open to being their truest self, while reassuring them that therapy is built on our therapeutic relationship by way of conversation. My communication style is personable, adaptable, and charismatic. While priding myself on being nonjudgmental and an active listener, I do my best when it comes to monitoring my clients feelings of safety and comfortableness to truly be who they are. As much as I am kind, polite, and mean well with intentionality, I still understand the "thin line" that comes with teaching and modeling appropriate communication. As a provider, I feel that one of my greatest strengths is being assertive, honest, and holding my clients accountable so that they continue to GROW and thrive beyond termination from therapy.
I enjoy working with the adolescents and transitional age youth or adults (16-25), as I take pride in assisting each individual tailored to their needs during a pivotal developmental stage where they are able to make changes to live a life worth living. As mental health is a recovery journey, I am fully committed to working with individuals who are willing to commit to doing the work, which allows me to be a better clinician for each client.
Working in a many settings within the behavioral health and healthcare sector, I am able to utilize this therapy approach to focus on the most relevant techniques from a plethora of evidence-based therapy modalities together or interchangeably in order to promote an effective, individualized treatment plan over the course of treatment.
I am a certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, who utilizes this treatment to assist clients in changing their thinking patterns. As a means to help clients identify their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, CBT also allows providers to guide in dissecting dysfunctional thoughts and reframing, to make the dysfunctional thoughts more accurate.
I am a certified Dialectical Behavioral Therapist, who utilizes this treatment to assist clients in understanding and accepting their emotions, learning to manage them, and to make positive changes in their lives. Homework is often given as a tool to practice these skills in-between sessions.
