Hello! I welcome you to take a look at my profile. I love what I do, which is helping people, one person at a time. I am an LCSW in Illinois and Texas and have been an LCSW since 2010. I received my Masters of Social Work (MSW) in 2005. I have various experiences in mental health counseling, child welfare, corrections, training of social workers and some adjunct teaching. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families. I use a range of modalities, from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, and in general, I am a good listener. I look forward to working with you!
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we will get to know each other with brief introductions and finding out some background information about you. I will also ask you what brings you to see therapy. Some people have very specific issues, some people just need a place to sort some things out.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I am a good listener and, strong problem-solver, and if I do not know something, I will get answers or make a referral.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Young adults, adults, couples, adolescents who are looking to partner in their mental health in a trauma-informed, pro-active way.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have used CBT in practice for years, it is focused on problem solving, and seeing how our emotions and thoughts can effect behaviors and how to challenge negative thoughts and behaviors.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT helps provide skills that help with emotional regulation and distress tolerance. Some of the techniques, skills and acronyms can be helpful during a session and beyond.
Motivational Interviewing
Sometimes when an issue is reframed, especially as a collaborative communication to reach a client's intrinsic motivation, it can really have a positive effect in the treatment space.

Since day one Sarah has always made me feel comfortable talking with her and no matter what I am feeling that day it is always a safe space to share those feelings. There’s never any judgement, she’s considerate, she’s warm, she’s always engaging and asks questions about what the topic may be that day. I look forward to our sessions because I know that if something is weighing heavily on me, I know that once we talk about it, I feel 10 times lighter.
