New to Grow
I am a licensed clinical social worker providing therapy to adolescents and young adults navigating emotional, developmental, and life-transition challenges. My clinical approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and collaborative, with a focus on helping clients build emotional regulation skills, strengthen self-identity, and improve relationships. I support clients dealing with anxiety, depression, family conflict, and adjustment difficulties, while creating a safe and nonjudgmental space for them to explore their thoughts and emotions. My goal is to help young people develop insight, resilience, and practical coping strategies that support long-term growth and stability.
In the first session, you can expect a welcoming space where you can share their concerns, especially about challenges like anxiety, depression, or cultural adjustment. I’ll work together to understand your struggles and set goals for therapy. I will explain how I use CBT to help manage negative thoughts and behaviors and ACT to encourage acceptance of emotions and taking action based on their values. The focus will be on making them feel heard, comfortable, and empowered while starting to build practical tools for long-term change.
I combine CBT and ACT to help you manage your emotions and behaviors while focusing on long-term growth. My approach is client-centered, empowering people to live in line with their values and build resilience, especially in the face of challenges related to immigration and identity.
My dream clients are individuals, especially from immigrant or diverse cultural backgrounds, who are dealing with challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma, and identity struggles due to cultural adjustment. They seek therapy that not only addresses emotional distress but also helps them navigate cultural differences and find a sense of belonging. Your ideal clients are motivated to make positive changes, are open to using techniques like CBT to manage negative thoughts and behaviors, and ACT to accept difficult emotions and align their actions with their values. They value a culturally sensitive approach that empowers them to live meaningful, fulfilling lives despite the difficulties they face.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a practical approach I use to help clients identify and change negative thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress. In my practice, I help clients recognize cognitive distortions like catastrophizing or overgeneralization, which may amplify anxiety or depression. Techniques like thought records allow clients to track and challenge these unhelpful thoughts, replacing them with more balanced perspectives. I also incorporate behavioral activation, encouraging clients to re-engage with positive activities that align with their values, which helps improve mood and reduce withdrawal. Through these structured interventions, CBT provides clients with tangible tools to manage stress, anxiety, and negative thinking, creating a foundation for emotional resilience.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) focuses on helping clients accept difficult emotions rather than avoiding them. In my practice, I guide clients through mindfulness exercises to help them stay present and observe their thoughts and feelings without judgment. ACT encourages clients to defuse from distressing thoughts, seeing them as temporary and not necessarily reflective of their true self. We also work together to clarify their values—what truly matters to them—and take committed action toward those values, even in the presence of discomfort. By fostering psychological flexibility, ACT empowers clients to live authentically and move forward despite challenges, promoting emotional growth and fulfillment.
