Kate Glidden
Hello! My name is Kate and I am a therapist with 10+ years of experience providing psychotherapy to folx navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, codependency, relationship challenges, and identity development. My clients describe me as calm, grounded and deeply relational. I thrive in combining both the art and science of therapy to offer my clients a true emotionally resonant and attuned secure base. In our work together, I will help you integrate all parts of your lived experiences, including the cultural, relational, and systemic influences that shape how you move through the world. Together, we will identify, deconstruct and shift old survival strategies that may no longer serve you and create new pathways rooted in your own resilience and choice. My approach centers on meeting you exactly where you are - with compassion, curiosity, authenticity. And without judgment! My therapeutic style incorporates nervous system regulation, mindfulness and practical tools that will support you in making lasting changes in your life. I also emphasize developing a growth mindset and practicing extreme ownership of our own selves. This empowers my clients with momentum to recognize and trust their innate capacity for healing, wholeness and development of balance in their lives. Outside of my work, I deeply care about my family and my community. I love being a mama to tween boys and a spouse. I practice daily my own healing, health and personal responsibility for taking good care. I like to dig in the dirt in my garden, listen to podcasts/audiobooks to keep learning new ideas, bike along the Mississippi River, explore as many National Parks as I can and love my people well. I look forward to meeting you!
First session
Therapy is a process that unfolds over time, and I treat every client–therapist relationship as unique. In our first few sessions, my focus is on getting to know you, understanding your story and building a strong foundation. We may talk about the current stressors or challenges you are experiencing, your personal history and relationships as well as the goals or hopes you have for therapy. There is also space for you to ask questions about the therapeutic process and what working together may look like. There is no pressure to share everything right away. Trust and safety take time to build, and we will move at a pace that feels supportive, comfortable, and respectful of where you are. As your nervous system begins to feel more at ease, we will continue building a therapeutic alliance—a safe, collaborative relationship grounded in trust, honesty, and respect.
Strengths
My greatest strength as a therapist is my attunement to each client and my ability to adapt therapy to fit your unique style and needs. Attunement means being fully present with you - listening closely, understanding your emotional experience and responding in a way that helps you feel seen, safe and supported. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including CBT, DBT, Interpersonal Neurobiology, EMDR, IFS and EFT to support holistic and long-term growth. This allows us to find what works best for you rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. My style is warm, grounded, calm, compassionate and encouraging. I aim to create a space where you feel both supported and gently challenged as you build insight, develop new tools and move toward lasting change and greater well-being.
